The team that takes care of the ball is probably going to win it. We are simular in pretty much all facits of the game. Both ball control teams. Both defensive oriented. Both coaches play field position football. NY has a bit better offense then we do. There ranked 3rd inthe NFC (357.5) and we are 7th (333.6). They are 4th in the NFC (128.3) and we are 7th (115.5). They are 6th in the NFC for passing offense (229.3) and we are 7th (218.1). Scoring offense, which I believe is the true indicator, breaks out like this. GMen are #1 in the NFC at 27.5 per. We are 6th in the NFC at 22.1. Regardless of how you see the QBs, I think it's safe to say that NY, to this point, has played better offensively then we have.
Defensively, that's another story. Currently, we are ranked 4th overall in the NFC. We are averaging 285.4 per game vs the Gmen at 11th in the NFC at 330.0 per. NY is strong against the rush because of there DLine play IMO. They are 3rd in the NFC at 93.7 vs us at 5th and 99.5. There problem is against the pass. There horrible at 14th in the NFC, giving up 236.3 per game vs us at 5th in the NFC at 185.8. As in offense, the true indicator (IMO) is scoring. GMen are 6th in the NFC in scoring defense with 18.9 per contest and we are 2nd with 17.1.
Having said all of this, the kicker is how NY stacks up at home vs on the road. That team is like night and day. The GMen are 1-3 on the road, beating only San Francisco. They are 6-1 at home. There only loss was to the Vikes. They average 31.5 points at home and give up 16.7. Almost 4 points a contest better offensively and 22.75 or 3.85 more points allowed defensively. In contracts, we are 4-2 at home and 3-2 on the road. We average 22.8 points at home (season average 22.1) and give up 13.5 (season average is 17.1), so there is about a 3.5 point swing there. On the road we're scoring 21.2 (22.1 is the season average) and giving up 21.4 (season average is 17.1) so there is a difference of a little over 4 points here. I don't see the drastic difference in our play at home vs on the road that I see with NY. They are definatly a different team in the Meadowlands.
