For 4 years I worked for a company here that makes doors and windows. A door distributor whom I know fairly well says that Cleveland Browns RB Jamal Lewis got into quite a fight in Scottsdale. I have not seen a peep about this anywhere in the Arizona news. Perhaps the guy he beat up did not press charges so there is nothing to report. I don't know.

According to Chuck they went to an upscale apartment building in Scottsdale yesterday (I think he said yesterday) to repair a kicked in door. The guy who lives there was beat to a pulp. He told them that it was Jamal Lewis who did it.

I have no idea if this is true. I have no idea what the fight was about. I don't even know if Jamal Lewis is in the Scottsdale area. Just thought I'd post it in case news trickles out that Jamal Lewis got in a fight. If this guy is talking to door installers it might get out.

I'm not suggesting him for the Cowboys. I hope you know that.

I just thought I'd post it. If it turns out to hit the news it's kind of cool that we heard about it first.

Interesting story. I would be surprised if something like this didn't make the news circuit. However, on second thought he doesn't play for the Cowboys.;)

Yeah but he does have a drug arrest and jail time on his record. I haven't seen or heard a peep until today and that is from someone who saw the guy who was allegedly beat up. If there was shady deals going on he probably didn't call the Police. But then why is he talking about it at all?

If it was a shady deal, then all rational thought is gone out the window. Obviously, the guy is sulking and willing to tell his story to anyone who would listen. Where is Ed Wierder when you need him?

Do you know when this supposidly happened? Looks like he's been at practice all week.

Jamal Lewis is practicing this week at Browns minicamp after undergoing offseason ankle surgery.

The procedure removed bone spurs, just like the surgery Lewis had in Jan. 2007. His buildup of ankle problems, declining ability to turn the corner, age (30 before the season), and cliff-dropping YPC are all red flags for 2009. Somehow, Eric Mangini is planning to run a ball-control offense. Good luck.

I honestly don't. Chuck made it sound like it just happened, but I don't know. I didn't ask. He's an honest guy though. I can vouch for that.

As I said, please take all of this with a grain of salt.

Oh I'm not trying to show you up or anything, just thought I'd add something to the discussion.

I thought it was a very solid point too. I would like to know if he works out in Scottsdale. It could add some validity to the story. Not much without Police investigations though.

It wouldn't surprise me if he did, seems like every professional player has a house somewhere in the greater Phoenix area.

Yeah, they all like to play golf.

Now I've opened up a can of worms.

http://www.profootballtalk.com/2009/05/28/jamal-lewis-is-back-and-looks-to-be-staying/

Browns running back Jamal Lewis returned to the practice field Wednesday, following surgery to clean up his ankle.

And coach Eric Mangini has cleaned up any suggestion that Lewis won’t be a fixture of the team’s running game in the coming season.

“I’ve always been impressed with how physical and tough Jamal is,” Mangini said, according to The Orange & Brown Report. “What I’ve been most impressed with Jamal is what he does in the meeting rooms in helping tutor [the younger players] and work with the other players. . . . Coming from a guy like Jamal, it tends to sink in even further to the other players. . . . This system fits him and what I’ve seen of him on tape has shown up on the field.”

Lewis has rushed for more than 1,000 yards in each of his two seasons in Cleveland. But he’ll be 30 in August, and for running backs that’s often the age when the chariots that carried them through the careers begin to morph into smelly old pumpkins.

For his career, Lewis has one carry shy of 2,400 and more than 10,000 yards. It remains to be seen how much longer he can do it. But it’s clear that he’ll continue to get opportunities in 2009.

He’s also got an outside shot at compiling credentials that could qualify him for Canton. Currently at 24th on the all-time NFL.

Maybe this was the 'Jamal Lewis' who beat the guy up...

Arizona State signs Rampart tight end early

Gazette, The (Colorado Springs) , Jul 8, 2001 by Tim Mimick

When the Arizona State football offer was received in the mail three weeks ago, Jamal Lewis had to hesitate.

Lewis, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound tight end who will be a senior this fall at Rampart High School, took two weeks before accepting the scholarship to the Pacific-10 Conference school as part of its 2002 recruiting class. The first signing date is Feb. 6.

He also had been charmed by Colorado, Colorado State and Washington.
"I didn't know what to do," he said Saturday afternoon. "It shocked me. You don't hear of a lot of guys getting these early offers. I never thought it would be me.

"I talked to the coaches. I finally called them this last week and told them I'd take it."

Rampart football coach Mike Sirko said that many more colleges were waiting to see how Lewis did this fall on the field before making their decision on him.

Arizona State didn't want to wait. After seeing the film of the 2000 Rampart-Mitchell game, the Arizona State coaches decided that Lewis was as good as they were going to see in this recruiting class. His blocking was exceptional.

His hands, honed on the Rampart basketball team, should allow him to fit easily into the passing offense under new Arizona State coach Dirk Koetter.

"They see him as the prototype for the tight end they want," Sirko said.

"They want to sign three tight ends and they saw him as being among the three best out of all the guys they've been recruiting. That says a lot for Jamal."

Lewis will start again at tight end on offense for Rampart, but he will start for the first time this season at defensive end.

Last season, he was used mainly at tight end. He caught about 15 passes for 300 yards and four touchdowns, Sirko estimated.

Lewis hasn't been to Arizona State yet, although he and his father might travel to Tempe, Ariz., this summer to check out the campus. He said that he will take his first official recruiting visit - seniors can take five - to Arizona State this fall during the season, possibly on Oct.20 to watch the Sun Devils host highly ranked Oregon State in a night game.

"I took the offer because I'd rather have that scholarship in hand," Lewis said. "Now I can relax about signing with someone. I have that even if I get hurt.

"I like everything about Arizona State so far and I'm sure as soon as I get to see the place, I'll love it. Maybe some day I'll get to play for them in a Rose
Bowl."

Interesting story. Thanks for sharing it with us, even if it doesn't turn out to be cool it was an interesting story coming from the person.

How silly would it be though, if it turns out not to be true, that he just randomly picked Jamal Lewis as the person to say whipped his butt.
