2 ways to be remembered at the QB position:
1. He wins
2. He puts up huge numbers

Sometimes you don't get remembered

How is Fran Tarkenton remembered? Great player put up huge numbers, but not remembered like Marino or Elway.

I think a combination of winning and numbers is the key and sometimes just winning.

Phil Simms has won and is respected.

John Elway had huge numbers and those two rings elevated him

Dan Marino had great numbers but never won the big one, only played in one Super Bowl, when he was young.

Bart Starr is known because he won championships. He probably has a ring for every finger (joking).

Troy Aikman, didn't have the numbers. He was unbelievably great QB, but known because he won game after game after game. In critical games, he was money. The bigger the game the bigger he played, he was surgeon.

Tony Romo? He is going to have every Cowboy QB single season record.
By the end of next year, he will have the record for the most 300 yard games.

Under today's NFL, you can put up huge numbers. Jon Kitna had a 4000 yard season.

He is 27 years old. His years on the bench gave him a late start for career numbers. In ten years if healthy, he could have 40,000 yards. He would be in the top ten.

Tony Romo's legacy has to be that he won. Since Aikman started his decline, the Boys didn't have a QB. In this league there are precious few people who play QB. That is why teams take QBs so highly.

That is why you see atomic bombs in the draft. Teams will take the 25th best player in draft because he is the QB.

How many difference makers do you have at QB? Brady, Manning, Romo, Roethlisberger, Gerrad Maybe?

If you ask around the league how many difference makers at QB? Tony Romo or Eli Manning, who is a bigger diff. maker, Romo.

Donovan McNabb or Tony Romo? Romo.

Donovan McNabb was hurt so we don't know.

Difference makers only get recognized if they win.

Peyton Manning before the Super Bowl was the Dan Marino legacy.

QBs get judged that way, fairly or unfairly.

Tom Brady's legacy is going to be championships. Brady, like Jon Elway will had the numbers and the wins.

Can Tony Romo join that group? Will the Cowboys be good enough and will he stay healthy?

Sometimes you take a hit, and it changes your career. Carson Palmer was able to bounce back but his team is junk.

Tony Romo has a chance with his playmaking ability to be remembered as a great one.

He will also have to win a ring.

Even though Romo wouldn't have the lengthy starter career of most QBs, he'll stay put up huge numbers if the Cowboys keep quality players at the skill positions and on the OL. But agree in Cowboy eyes, he wouldn't be considered a But even then, Brady has so much more experience both in playoffs and SBs but I still wouldn't bet against the Cowboys and Romo.

I think Norm is getting ahead of himself. Romo career has just started, enjoy the ride for now and worry about how he will be remembered when his playing days are over which hopefully will be many years from now and many SB from now

Continued media exposure is also a key component.

Joe Namath is far more memorable than Len Dawson, although they won the same number of Super Bowls and (my best guess is that) Dawson had better numbers.
