It's not a matter if they would trade straight up. And just because a teams success, doesn't mean they are a better QB either.
On the flip side, how many QB's would Dallas trade romo for straight up. Do you think they would want Roethlisberger at this point over Romo?

Wilson may have won a SB win a GREAT defense, and he plays smart, but is he really better than Romo, can he carry a team like Romo shown he can do?

I don't think Dallas would trade for Roethlisberger, nor do I think the Steelers would trade for Romo. In both team's eyes, neither QB is better than the other. The point is most franchises don't/won't see Romo as better than what they've got. I do think you have to view it as whether Romo's worth trading for or not. Romo's not appreciably better than anyone on that list, IMO. Which I think does put him somewhere into about the 8th-14th spot on the list of best QBs.

Yes, that's what I meant, most teams view their own situation as being good with the QB they have.
Now for us fans, at this point, most would say yes, Luck / Romo, we want the young QB that will be here for years, colts fans say no way, but not even Big Ben / Romo for the next few years. with everything being equal, not counting differences in schemes. Not at this stage in their careers.

I'd love to see someone name 11 WRs better than Dez Bryant. Or for that matter 13 QBs better than Romo.

I know that's not the point of what he was talking about but I found those to be weird numbers.

Me too .... It was the first thing that popped into my mind. All I hear is how awful Tony is and how much of a basket case Dez is. I just need them to get that ring so we can turn back all that mouth. If there is a God.

I don't dislike Romo at all, but I bet none of these teams would trade these starters straight up for Romo:

NE - Tom Brady
GB - Aaron Rodgers
Ind - Andrew Luck
Den - Peyton Manning
Sea - Russell Wilson
SF - Colin Kapernick
NO - Drew Brees
Car - Cam Newton
Pit - Ben Roethlisberger
Was - RGIII
Bal - Joe Flacco
Atl - Matt Ryan
Det - Matthew Stafford
SD - Philip Rivers

You may quibble with one or two of them, but I still don't think their teams would rather have Romo than their QB.

So if we quibble then parts of your list are invalid. I think RG3 can be better but he is 1 read guy. Kaep awesome as long as you ask him not throw too much also more of 1 read QB. Flacco I would at best say on par. I am basing this on overall QBing skill, which means can make all the rows, can read a defense, can escape, and can put a team on his shoulders and give them a shot to win no matter the score.

besides health. there is one thing this offense must do to get better and thats convert 3rd downs. you get that to somewhere in the top 10 in the league and this offense will shock alot of teams. you can't go thru the season and only convert 35% of 3rd downs and have a high scoring offense
also converting 3rd downs keeps the defense watching

I agree with you specifically regarding the Green Bay game, but one game does not negate the trend in general. Dallas ran the ball better and more often after the bye.

The line gelling or not it is useless if you don't have basic game management 101 coaching. The more you run the ball the better at it you will get. I am hoping Linihan commits to it. It's not like he is exactly Rex Ryan ground and pound guy, but you have to help your defense out by keeping them off the field whether it is good or bad, and having 40 second possessions does not do that.

No one likes Tony more than me but based on more than just talent level, I agree. (Age, Health, Skills) I am surprised I agree but I do. And even though I think he is a lucky bum, you'd have to add Eli to the list. NYG would not trade him either.

Once again, almost like setting your clock, the thread gets sidetracked as people argue about where specific players fit within the top players at their position in this league.

So the point of Hitzges' comment was the offense, but you guys just can't get over other people who don't hold your heroes in as high esteem as you do.

Then you want to create a subjective list as if that is anything other than what Norm was saying.

This "my daddy can beat up your daddy" argument became tiresome four years ago.

Yeah, pretty arbitrary numbers thrown around by Hitzges.

Rogers, Brees, Manning, Brady

are the only ones clearly better then Romo. The rapist, Newton, Luck and others-if they are better the edge is only slight. Ryan? Stafford? Flacco? only the truly stoned would say they are as good let alone better

By your logic, and if the 3 that are slightly better *are* slightly better, then Romo is 8th. Which still fits Hitzges' original comment. I'm saying Hitzges is right on with his placing of Romo.

Finally someone with some sense in this discussion. I drop big Ben and Newton into the Ryan Stafford group as well.

A dedication to running the football will do wonders to help the defense. I want our defense playing as few snaps as possible, even if they are improved. It can only help.

I believe after 4 weeks we'll be the #1 or #2 offense in the nfl. Besides all the talent, no one will have film on the offense.

Granted, we'll likely need 27 points at the least to get by the 49ers.o_O
