UNT is the closest football university to my house.
My wife got her Grad degree there.

All that to say it would be nice if they weren't awful.

They have a new stadium and a good location between Dallas and Oklahoma were enough talent is bred to fill 20 college teams.

So it's really hard to understand that level of suckitude.
2-3 star recruits brought in and coached up should get you to CUSA title contention.
This is a school very badly in need of the proper hire.
A young guy with good Texas recruiting skills and college coaching connections.

My top candidates would be:
Lincoln Riley, OU OC.
Doug Meachum TCU OC
Mike Norvell ASU OC

Why all OC? Texas is producing the best offensive talent in the country right now.
Only California can even enter the debate.
But in Texas clearly the best players are on offense so you need to take advantage of that.
Trying to win 50-45 isn't ideal but it holds attention spans of 20 year olds and draws recruits.
Plus you are replacing a defensive coach.

Dan McCarney has been fired as North Texas coach, the school announced an hour after a disappointing, blowout loss to an FCS program that continued a spiraling season.

The Mean Green lost their homecoming game to Portland State 66-7 on Saturday, falling to 0-5.

I heard them say on TV last night during the WKU game that UNT paid Portland State $400,000.

So UNT gave a school $400k to beat them up for 60 minutes. Sounds like a dominatrix session! :D
