COACHING CAROUSEL: Teams have received permission to speak to defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer and assistant head coach Sean Payton about possible head coaching jobs.

Zimmer will interview with the St. Louis Rams at a day and time still to be determined.

Payton has drawn interest from the Packers and the Saints. He is set to interview with the Packers on Thursday. A date for the Saints interview has not yet been set.

Linebackers coach Gary Gibbs is a possible replacement for Zimmer.

A Payton departure could open the door for a return of Norv Turner as offensive coordinator. Turner was fired as head coach of the Raiders on Tuesday.

I don't mind it.

Norv is still a great co-ordinator and could get our running game going.

We will see.

The Raiders had no talent... but he still did as much with Kerry Collins as he could...

In his second year with Miami, he traded for Ricky Williams... who ran for 1853 yards... his career high... Still though he had no quarterback...

If he came here all he would need was an offensive line to put together. And he had success putting together a great (if not greatest offensive line in nfl history) with the cowboys in the 90s.

I dunno about him coming back. I'm not sure that Parcells would want to connect himself to the past here.

Also, I'd prefer we brought someone in who would be the heir apparent to Parcells. I don't see Norv as that guy.

just because he worked here long ago doesn't mean he fits now. come on USA Today, think before you publish.

I'd rather have Parcells calling the shots instead of Norv, means we would be running the same offense in consecutive years, because continuity is as important as finding the right players and coaches

BS!!! Norv Turner was the OC when Ricky W. rushed for 1800+ yards... that to you isn't anything??!!

I'm not ready to climb back on the Norv bandwagon and get him back... I'm not sure how much that would fit into BP grand little scheme, but Norv KNOWS the power running game.

Another repost concerning the 1800+ yard season for Ricky W.
