Norv Turner praising Jason Garrett on the fan

Just passing it along, josh lewin has a show on the fan in the afternoon (he is also the voice of the chargers and former tv voice of the texas rangers) anyway he asked norv a bunch of questions about Jason and the cowboys after the chargers game the other day.

I am sure they will podcast it, but in a nutshell He said Jason is ready for the job and knows that he has to surround himself with good people because that is the way it works.

He said nothing but great things about him.

I know many here like to portray norv as turning his nose up at Garrett, but Josh Lewin said today that norv told him he talks to him constantly.

Lewin also pointed out that norv wanted garrett in oakland and couldnt get him along with many other people who wanted him, scott linehan, nick saban, les miles.

Anyway, I know within a few posts this will turn into some moronic realists homer thread, so just passing it along and if they post the podcast I will put it up.

also, the josh lewin show with elf in the afternoon is very good. I have actually listened to this more recently becaue bob sturm has becoming kind of annoying and frustrating to listen to.

When it was just Josh Lewin by himself, that show was brutal. It's gotten a lot better since they added Elf. And is it just me, or does Lewin sound almost exactly like Mayock?

It pretty much seems like, anyone who knows Garrett well, always sing praises of him. On personal note, a good friend of mine, his daughter ( best friend my daughter), plays with John Garrett's daughter in Soccer team.

He said he talked to him a lot and says he is such a great guy. He personally is a Chiefs fan ( my friend), but thinks Cowboys should keep Garret since they are such great people ( apparently Jason/John's Dad was there for a soccer game this past fall).

Anyway, nothing important there, other than anyone who has met Garrett's family can't say enough good things about them.

Third, I was going to post in another new thread, but from yesterday's PC, you can clearly tell, Garrett has more power than fans/media seem to think he does. Jerry clearly listens and respects Garrett a lot. Things are going to change a lot, slowly but surely with Cowboys, IMO.

I think people forget or underestimate the power / influence Stephen Jones has over Jerry. If Stephen is on board with Jason Garrett and his plan for the Cowboys future then Stephen will pin him (Jerry) against the wall to get things done.

I think garrett will be a good one over the long look back of history. hes smart and I dont think hes going to roll over and be a puppet as much as some on here. I doubt he will keep Jerrys hands off everything, but he has a better shot at doing it then most new coaches would.

I say yes sir and lets move to the next issue and start solving this 2010 flummox.

Garrett has a very good reputation in the NFL circles despite the cowboys fandom notions. He is a younger version of Sean Peyton. get him the offensive line and you will see a totally different offense.

people criticize JG for passing too much. yet Saints, Houston, Indy lead the league in pass plays with 62-65% and they are the most successfull offenses.

I tell you what, if it works, why not. With Dez, Miles and Roy/Hurd/someone else and then Witten, Phillips, Felix in the flat or where the linebacker used to be. Why would you not pass. With Romo back there and a good Oline, man, I could see 50 attempts a game.

I dont care if we run it and grind it out or run and gun, a win is a win, but a 45-17 win every week is really cool. My spurs changed to an offensive team and I like the results, I saw lets change to a pass happy, pass first second and third down team and make em stop us. How many teams can cover a legit 4-5 receivers all game long....But you better have a pass blocking Oline that can sustain their blocks or pancake the defender.

PS, just a thought on who that someone else to replace Roy could be, A young man I noticed early in the college year....Julio Jones.

Imagine a 3 receiver set with Dez, Miles and Julio, with Witten and Felix. WOW!
