...prepared to work with Bledsoe's faults and mask them.

He needs to design and teach the finer art of the swing and the screen passes. He needs to design audibles against "jailbreak" blitzes and develop receiver patterns to exploit vacated zones from blitzes. This includes disguised zone blitzes.

He needs to develop short patterns that can get us the tough third and four to six yards.

He has to have a good sense of offensive rhythm and know what sequence of plays he can run to settle down our offence when things are not going our way.

He needs to be able to teach an old dog like Bledsoe new tricks - getting rid of the ball in a timely fashion. Mot important, he must be willing to develop young and not progressing talent like Henson at the QB position.

If that's Norv Turner, then let's sign him up. But be wary people's reputations from the past is not an accurate representation of the effort they will give in the future.

A guy I would be mildly interested in is - TOM CLEMENTS.

What exactly has Norv done since leaving here that would make anyone come to this conclusion?

He can design all the routes he wants but it wont matter if they dont fix the oline, Bledsoe isnt going to hit anyone from his back.

Would Norv want to work with/for Parcells? I'm not sure he would.

Turner's style of offense, while in Dallas was timing based. Aikman was very good with his accuracy and was a real nice fit for the style. I'm not sure that we have the speed at receiver to take advantage of a system like that. Irvin was deceptively "quick " and created seperation, often times pushing away from defenders. Kevin Williams was fast as heck, but only an average receiver. Glenn is still very fast, but Johnson would catch alot of short balls. Don't know if these guys would be too keen on his style. I think Norv tried a little differrent stuff in Oakland, but obviously had other problems as well.

This is a great point that a lot of people seem to neglect. Actually, I have a theory that is a slight variation on that, namely that Turner would be waaay too mild-mannered and non-confrontational to work with Parcells. Payton seems like he doesn't get that rattled by BP, but Norv seems like he would, even though he is older than Payton, has had head coaching experience, etc.

If there is a general suspicion now that Parcells overrides Payton every so often, it would probably be more prevalent (and true) with Turner. One other thing too, although it's just speculation, but given Bill's need to exercise an extraordinary amount of control over things, I wouldn't be surprised if Norv's previous success with Jerry would actually threaten him and therefore turn him off on the guy.

I dont know how to respond. I really dont know how much control the current Coordinator has.

I think Sean Payton is fine...I really do.

I think the best thing would be to get some better players, obviously and have what happened at the Owner level, happen at the Coaching level. Where Big Bill does a "Jerry Jones" and gives up some of the control on offense.

I would really like to see Big Bill doing more things with the defense and let Payton handle the offense.

That could be the situation right now, I dont know.

I dont care about Norv Turner, I like Payton, I just want the offense opened up a lot more like we did agains the Carolina Panthers, where he just said, "****", Im not gonna go max protect, no matter how many times their pretty good players get to my QB.

I suspect that the conservative games plans were Big Bill's doing...dont know.

As I stated, Norv has some extremely talented players in Oakland, but that part of their team was not that great.

Exactly. We cannot use a timing based offense with this OL or this QB so this Norv stuff ain't happening.

Thank God.

It seems most who want Norv back forget he ran that timing offense. I got news for you.... Aikman>Bledsoe.

Agreed. Bledsoe sets up way too slow to run a timing based system. Actually, Bledsoe had Ernie Zampese (Norv's mentor) as an offensive coordinator in NE in the late '90s under Pete Carroll. So he has experience in this system. But it was a poor fit for Drew and the personnel around him in NE at the time and they struggled offensively. I think the offensive system Dallas has now fits Bledsoe pretty well. Upgrade the offensive line and keep Julius Jones healthy and this offense will be productive. No need to change the system just for change's sake. If Payton goes, Parcells is still gonna run this offensive system no matter who he brings in as OC. And it won't be Norv Turner.
