Norv's thoughts on our team

Yeah DC.com has it, I tried to edit my original post because I had paused the video just before he starts blabbing.

Still haven't finished but its a real winner of a interview so far.

Yeah its a catchable interview. We lost but I got 2 tds and had catchable balls thrown my way...so I can keep my head up...

Wow, go figure. It's too bad Garrett calls pass plays too often.

Kinda hard to throw passes against a D sitting back and waiting for it, it's when teams do this and we still go pass heavy we get our selves in trouble. If they're going all out to take the run away like the Giants last week by all means pass until they stop doing it, If they sit back like in the first Giants game just daring you to pass it's probably a good idea to not test them because we're simply not good enough to win that way.

I liked his talk of Barber's fumble being the turning point that was the difference of the game.

This is from Galloway, who started naming a "San Diego source" but has been drinking on his show and pretty much admits it's Norval himself. (As do all the other hosts.)

Says Ratliff is the best defensive lineman they played all year.

Ware is obviously special.

Spencer is, surprisingly to Galloway, a very good player.

SD has great respect for both our corners, Jenkins and (yes) Newman.

Our weak spots, they felt, were our D-ends and both safeties.

Also said they don't want to get run all over, but they'd rather get run on than have Romo throw it on them. But they did say if you could stop the main threat of Austin making huge plays on you, you'd be okay.

Just FYI.

This is why you go WR in the first ladies and gents. This is why we wanted a WR after we let glenn go. This is why we traded for RW we need someone to compliment Austin and it aint RW ****ing bum.

I am saying I cant believe we didnt make a big play somewhere with them doing this, theogt said they did it to austin and that makes it worse for me.

When teams do that you have to throw the ball there and challenge them.

and I stand by what I said about roy not getting much seperation and that is why he doesnt get many calls. It always looks like he is getting mugged.

I agree with you. Cromartie was in Roy's back pocket on a lot of his routes.

The biggest complaint I have is that I see RW running so many comeback routes and square outs. Those are routes that rely on precise route running, and RW doesn't excel in that area. In fact, I think he telegraphs his routes so much that he's easy to single cover on those routes.

RW should be running crosses, skinny posts, slants, you know, routes that give him a chance to use his big frame and big hands to fight for the ball. Whether he is successful is another story, but at least he should be put in a position to succeed instead of expecting him to be Terry Glenn.

Yea, but then you would be predictable...

and we wouldn't want that.

I am not sure how our DE's are weak when we at one point in the 3rd qtr were allowing them an average of 2.2 per carry.

Now, they don't get a lot of pressure fron the qb but they are solid players. Maybe he was meaning the pass rush part because I bet you he does not think they are weak playing the run.

For the record, I'm sure these were Norv's thoughts leading into the game, not based on our game.

You see, Galloway is a Norv hugger deluxe... He's old drinking buddies with Norv going back to the Jimmy days and they are great friends. It's one reason why Galloway has always been so anti-Wade -- because he spent so much time campaigning for his BFF to get the job when Jerry was making the decision, and he's still bitter.

Yea these comments seem to be from someone before the game. For instance, when Norv has respect for you he tests you. That's why he kept going at Newman and Jenkins all day long.

he should have had a huge day. he made one big play, and it was akward, he looked suprised the ball came his way, then to his credit he fought like crazy and made a play out of it.

but the way they played him he should have been unstoppable. they didnt dare play austin that way.

hopefully in the future roy makes people pay for that.
Well against bump and run man coverage, you should be able to beat it with a go route. He didn't do it once that I can remember. I don't know how many times the safety on his side was really up in the box and he ran a slant or something.

Someone help me out here but how many sacks are defensive ends in the 3-4 are suppose to get? It would seem like the OLB's would be the ones with the sacks. Yet, we still get sacks from Ratliff on the D-line. In my eyes if you stop the run you're doing job at the defensive end spot.

What outside run did the Chargers broke for on Sunday that had any significance ?

Again, it took SD 31 carries to get 73 yards and THE longest run play was Tomlinson's 11 yards run.

This is true. I stand corrected.

Hmmmmmm........does this single man coverage include the play where the LB batted down and almost intercepted the Romo pass that was intended for RW? Because, when they showed the replay, Roy had the CB trailing him (seperation) BUT the S basically on top of him, waiting for the pick.

Yeah, he was covered by one guy all day and did absolutely nothing (4 catches, 74 yards and 2 obvious, missed P.I. calls)...........................
It's called a zone. They're not going to run Man all day.
