Tomorrow's Philthy game is not a true must-win game but a loss would, for all intents and purposes, put us clearly on track to shoot for a wild card birth. Furthermore, a loss makes next week's game at Green Bay a real NEED-to-win game as Green Bay is likely to be in line for a potential WC and having the head to head tiebreaker, like we now do with Atlanta, could prove imperative when it comes time to add it all up at the end of the season.
Obviously, a win tomorrow puts us on track to shoot for the division crown and a first round bye.
Looking ahead, realistically we need to at least win one of our next two, and that won't be easy. For if we can go 1-1 next two weeks, we have Oakland, Wash, and a struggling NYG team. Those are 3 very winnable games which would put us at 9 wins. I don't expect to beat the Saints and hard to count on us beating Philthy but we would have another game against Wash, which should put us at 10 wins (I also think the San Diego game at home is very winnable). I would think that 10 wins would get us in, esp with tiebreakers over Atl and GB.
Overall, next two games will be pivotal to the rest of the season. Win both and we are on the road to eventually clash with NO for the title of best in the NFC. Lose both and it will be a struggle, although still possible, to even make the post-season. Split them and as long as we take care of business the following 3 weeks, we will still be in good shape to at least pull a WC (esp if we beat San Diego).
