Not as far as some think.

Earlier this morning I posted my first post since our loss in Philly.

I have been here on and off reading, but nothing mattered enough or seemed important enough to post about.

I guess I just had to step back away from the ledge for a while. :laugh2:

Anyway, since I have had time to rethink everything and try to put everything into perspective, I am not so sure we are as far away from doing something big as some seem to think.

I know, I know, we have issues, things we need to correct, areas we need to improve on.

But when I look at our final four games, I actually am encouraged.

We played the Steelers on the road, at Heinz field, on that crummy field and in their frigid element and had them beat for 3 1/2 quarters. Yes I know we let that slip away but we were every bit as good as they were, and look at where they are now. AFC Champs.

Then after an ESPN provoked rough week, we beat the champs of the NFC East, and defending Super Bowl champs.

Then we played a tough Raven team, that just lost the AFC Championship game, and if it weren't for two back to back 150 yd runs we could have won that game.

As far as the Eagles game goes, when you are playing a team that is as good as you, and you turn it over 5 times in something like a quarter and a half, ... you lose.

Just ask the AFC Champs about their game with the Titans, Big Ben turned it over 4 times with 4 fumbles, (two lost) and two pics, one a pic 6.

My point is, yes, we have issues to address, so does every team.

But we don't have to start over completely from scratch.

Its not like we weren't good enough to compete with any of them.

We played 4 of the top 6 teams in the NFL the last 4 games of the season, went toe to toe with 3 of them, and were as good as any of them.

That is some good football.

you will probably get bashed but I agree totally. Focus on discipline (penalties, qb play) defense stays on the path they were on, felix and barber, romo totally healthy, implement Roy Williams, and I think we will be better than okay.

Thank you WV.

I have been feverishly trying to figure out how to replace all 53 players on the roster since none of them are smart, care about winning, or lucky.

your point is well taken. a few plays here and there could well change a season. the difference between the "have" teams and the "have-not" teams is very slim right now.

...nevertheless, the december mental collapses have to stop...

Just clean up the locker room mess and get everyone on the same page, and we're fine.

But expect that to go over like a lead balloon around here.

Only a fool would try to make an argument that the Dallas Cowboys need to rebuild.

Personally, I believe that a very small minority on this forum believe that.

However, I don't think I understand how someone could be encouraged by what they saw from the Cowboys the last few games.

it is quite obvious you don't realize just how drastic our issues are. As you mentioned in that Ravens game not only did we give up one 150 yard run - but we gave up 2. That is frickin insane, The nfl record was 99.5 yards prior to that game. Not only did the ravens break that record, but they broke it twice..that is incredible..we suck..

lol, just messin with ya! good post. With as poorly coached as we are, with all our tardiness and poor practice habits we still managed to play tough. Let us see what we can do when we are firing on all cylinders. Hopefully we can find someone to get us to that level.

Are you saying that a 9-7 team could make the Superbowl despite distractions from a WR and the fact that they hadn't won a playoff game in 10 years? I just don't ever see that happ.....wait, nm.

Remember how the Rams went from 5-11 to the Super Bowl in the late 90's and many said if they can do it so can we?

Yeah, that worked well. One 5-11 season led to another and led to another.

But I'm sure Jerry will look at AZ and think we are on the verge since they made it.

This disorderly mob is finding ways to lose games. If and when they ever become a team they will be finding ways to win games. They need a radical attitude transplant.

Not to mention the fact that we have been 9-7 three out of the last four years.

We are not the Rams of the 90s and we are not the 2007 Giants.

The real problem is that the Cowboys don't seem to know who they are yet.

Wow ... this reminds of all the "We beat the Super Bowl Champion Colts so we're better than they are" threads back in 2007.

That seems to be the party line "we are not playing as a team" whereas I think its just we are a poorly coached team that is often not prepared.

There is a difference.

Aren't there some orphans some of you guys can tell there's no Santa and that no one wants them which is why they are where they are at?

This doom and gloom stuff is pathetic, leave it in those threads instead of dragging it into a positive one closer to the truth than you care to admit.

I am encouraged.

The first Skins game, and the loss to the Rams were our undoing. Especially the Rams loss. Unacceptable.

Those and Romo going down.

To me, our biggest failure/downfall was not having an adequate replacement for Romo.

The rest of our losses were to the teams that played in the divisional round and the conference championships.

Not to shabby, at least something to build on.

Oh now you muffed up. :laugh2:

Agreed on Rams and Skins.

Romo going down. We went 1-2 with Brad and "the team" lost one of those games so it could very have been 2-1. While I agree we need a backup QB it was not our undoing.

The rest of our losses were inexcusable.

The only game we should have lost was the 1st Giants game :D
