Not Playing Newman Is A Smart Play For Cowboys..

JMHO, I think it's in the Cowboys best interest not to play Newman at all against the Browns.

There are some reports that Newman may play the Nickle CB but..... Why play Newman who isn't 100% and risk him even further?

The Cowboys did a great job by adding help at the CB spot in the offseason with picking up Adam Jones in a trade from the Titians, drafting Mike Jenkins in round #1 and getting Scandrick in the sixth round, respectively.

The football season is a long one. The Cowboys Shouldn't try to play Newman this week as we have plenty of quality players to fill in.

IMO, maybe another weeks rest could be what Newman needs. I rather have Newman back against Philly next week, GB after that and the Skins in week#4.

Newman is just to important to risk him. Give him the proper rest and he should return to ProBowl form and help the Cowboys make a push in December, Janurary and hopefully the SuperBowl!

I agree. I think the wild card is Henry replacing Williams.

If Henry replaces Williams, you're looking at Scandrick. In a dime package, who is your 4th CB? Ball?

I say you play Williams, start Henry, Pacman, Jenkins, and Scandrick. I don't want our depth chart on an important thind down(nickel package) including two rookies. . . no matter what round, or how they have played.

pretty much, he may play in passing situations. I doubt we'll see him.

NO. There have been several conflicting reports. I'm more apt to believe the middle...that he's going to get some snaps in the nickel, but it's likely a game time decision.

Newman will play some likely but they should try to hold him back unless he's 100%. He'll play if they have to have him. If not why not play Scandrick and Jenkins and get them ready to play and trust. Find out what we bought.

I agree. Throw them in the fire along side henry, Jones and Newman. Mix it up until everyone is healthy and rust-free.

No! From what I heard is that Newman is a game time decision and if he plays it's part-time in the nickle.

I have decided to leave it up to the coaches. ;)

Its been 5 weeks and he still isn't healed from a slight groin tear?

It makes me believe that the injury was worse than what Wade said.

It's hard to diagnose those properly and grade them, too. Add in differing times to heal and you have your basic onery groin pull.

They only gave a window of how long Newman will be out. Give or take a couple of weeks.

He maybe healthy enough to play but Cowboys want to make sure the tear is close to 100%.

I am just hoping there wasn't a set back that they are not telling us. When I went to camp 4 weeks ago he seemed to be running fine, as well as moving side to side.

I wish people were this patient about our wide receiver situation... It's just week 1.
