Not political thread. Question, what is it called when a family or two families run ie. The presidency for many years? Ie Clinton's and Bush's?

I read it in a blog or website. It's like family nepotism, monopoly... Etc?

Thanks.

Nepotism means a person of power giving jobs and other opportunities to friends or family members. There isn't a particular term I know of that means a single family holding presidential office, but I did do a google search and saw a bunch of articles using the term nepotism when it comes to the Bush family. Technically, I wouldn't call it nepotism since the younger Bush did have to win the election on his own. Typically nepotism is something like the boss gives his stepson the job even though there are more qualified people out there.

I have also heard people call it a political "dynasty" when talking about the situation, like the Kennedeys.

An aristocratic oligarchy is what we are close to only a small group of wealthy people can gain power.

Reagan / Bush = 8 years
Bush sr = 4 years
Bill Clinton = 8 years
Bush Jr = 8 years
Hillary first or Jeb = 8 years
Jeb's turn after Hillary = 8 years

Almost 50 years. Wow!

Oligarchy is just a small group of people in control. It doesn't imply family. But it might be the closest thing to what the OP is looking for.

That is the game? Hence;truth Not some NWO type but I think that was the OP question; who holds power, etc...how in the world does Jeb have a lead? That's your answer right thereo_O

It's funny. It's like a couple of IOU's

Hillary was looking like a possible winner in 2008. Obama snatched it up. People. = we owe you Hillary. Lol

Jeb was next in line in 2000, then Georgey boy snatches it up. People = we owe you Jeb.

Well, you left out the 8 years of Obama. If a black man can get elected to consecutive terms, then that discounts the idea that only a Bush or Clinton can be elected as president.

The USA has had a history of this going all the way back to the beginning, maybe not to the extreme we have seen in the last 30 years but not unprecedented

Not if he is further to the right of Reagan;) Ideology has changed big time; Clinton was a rebup for ex; same as Obama. Ideology hit right but look at his policy:rolleyes: We haven't had a "liberal" president since Carter (MIC)...come on y'all. Any sane president realized we had to taper down the GDP involved with health care, so get over that aspect (economic sense) but obv certain parties liked the rake...physicians in US didn't like their income effected/look at medicare abuse, etc. you need this test, etc. They were called out basically...

This makes no sense. His name isn't Bush or Clinton. You just can't help yourself!
