Not ready to put Romo in the same class as the Bradys & Peytons. However...

This guy is going to be golden for the franchise. He needs to be locked up as soon as humanly possible. I hope Jerry reads this board.

Why the thread title? Are you shocked that it came from me??? :) Well, I have been a Romo proponent since pre-season. I wanted him on the field the very first time our team hit the season running. I was very disappointed to see him have to wait until the coaching staff realized the errors of their ways. In short, I love this guy.

That said, The Bradys and Paytons have been at it for quite some years. They thrive on consistency. They've proven themselves. After 2 games Romo has shown me what I already knew. He's the future of the franchise. He has managed to convince a great number of you as well. It's a true pleasure to see the thoughts unfold on the board as the Cowboys faithful begin to realize what we have in our bread basket.

Romo is going to be special but the Bradys and Peytons became special ages ago and have forged their niches in the league. Although I am not yet ready to put my boy Romo in their category, I am content knowing his actions in the coming years will leave no doubt in the minds of the NFL faithful. His name is destined to become synonymous with theirs.

He just got a new contract in preseason. He isn't going anywhere. Let him play out the year before committing. Brady didn't get a new deal until he won the Super Bowl.

Right now he is man that has played well in two football games and has done enough to win both yet is 1-1 because the team let the fans down.

Bleu, this is Jerry Jones we're talking about here, the owner who protects his players, and sometimes gives too freely to keep them here, not Bill Bidwell

ROmo keeps it up, he's a Cowboy for a very, very long time

If he takes dallas to the playoffs this year and plays well throughout then he will be in negoiations this off-season for real money.

I know and let us say Dallas goes 10-6, wins a wildcard, loses in the divisional playoffs. At 26 Romo would probably get a four or five year deal that paid him four million or so a year with incentives that would kick in should the team become a champion.

it will probably be around the same contract the BUcs were offering Chris Simms earlier this year, in which he refused

don't know the exact figures of that deal, but the situations are similar to Simm's 1st year success last year, that the 2 #s might be the same

I'm not a Romo-sexual but I'll give him credit for looking better then Chris Simms.

Well I really like what I see from him..hell after the last 6 years or whatever at the position I'd already have no beef for giving him the job the next 6 no matter what.. but I wouldnt advise getting ones hopes too high because then you'll just crash harder if for whatever reason it dont pan out like you hoped... i.e. one of the actual top 3 or 4 in the league.

Think Ware. I'm sure some hoped for various different reasons that he'd become one of the premiere pass rushers in this league. Based on pedigree, early flashes or whatever. Well it just hasnt happened yet.. regardless of why.

Simms looked pretty good last year

I think he had something like 10 TDs to only 4 picks in 10 games

He was dreadful against the Commanders in the playoffs, that is the standing image of him I have and those atrocious limp wristed passes he was tossing about before his spleen took a vacation. I hope he heals but his old man was a better QB although i never thought he was great either.

Romo is much more mobile and creative then Delhomme. They aren't alike at all. Romo has a better arm also... I hate when he's compared to Delhomme..

I cannot believe I'm saying this because I was such a Hensonite, but in
2 1/2 games Romo has become my favorite Cowboy player. How can you not love the guy? He plays like a 8 year vet with the enthusiasm of a rookie.
He has a charisma similar to that Staubach played with.

Honestly, if not for his play, I would be so disappointed with the Cowboys this season. He is a ray of hope for an otherwise average, mistake-filled season.

c'mon dude, that was playoffs, Romo has only played in 2 regular season games where teams don't have as much tape on him as they did of Simms then, I'd be ecstatic if ROmo showed as much potential as Simms did last year, for a good chunk of the year

The key is intellect, Romo to his credit does possess it, Brady is an intelligent man as well with just enough athleticism to be a great quarterback much to my chigrine. Drew Henson had the physical gifts of Troy Aikman and the psychology of a ******** trout that would leap into the arms of defenders as if was a bear standing down stream. He probably would of been a Jeff George type, gifted talent, arrogant and unwilling to learn.

Well, yeah... Intellect helps... BUT... if he makes too many impulse throws... he will shorten his career... like BP told him after the INT last week when he came to sidelines... "you do that, that will get your arse on the bench"...

I hope Jerry isnt looking for the big name. I fear he will scrap Romo because he didnt pick him and will trade up for Quinn.
