Not since 1996 have the Cowboys been to 3 or more straight playoff appearances

It's only progress if we actually make a deep playoff run. Otherwise, we are nothing more than Washington and Detroit, the only 2 franchises who have been in a longer drought to make the NFC championship than us.

Not since 1996 have the Cowboys been to 3 or more straight playoff appearances. Mike McCarthy is the 6th Head Coach of the team in that span.

Hey, at least they are making progress.
The current Zone posters won’t accept anything short of a resounding, crushing, Super Bowl win …

Followed up by two more consecutive Lomabardies after that.

Every time one of these losers that bleat about regular seasons and getting to the playoffs I want to puke
We are the Dallas Cowboys.
We are SUPPOSED to be in the playoffs every year
Celebrating that is celebrating mediocrity
Lol

I wonder if Cowboys will be the first team to be knocked out of playoffs by the same team 3 years in a row.

Awesome, so we can expect a SB win this year.

Not too many teams have accomplished that so the Cowboys may have had plenty of company. We can negatively statistically distort by isolating non-accomplishments of most franchises. For example the Chiefs won their first Super Bowl in 1969. Then it took 50 years for them to win their second Super Bowl! It's about as meaningful as researching how many more age spots did Jerry accrue from 2009 to 2023.

It's good to be young and naive.

The issue is that here at the Zone, there are loads of ancient dudes, who who are stuck in 1993 (they seem to resent XXX) or, God help us, the truly glorious relics who still lament 1967.

I’m no spring chicken as far as age is concerned, and certainly, I’d like to think of myself as a modern fan who still roots for the team every week, but there are loads of Zoners whose fandom (and minds) got cemented in place and they can’t even enjoy the game any more.

It’s kinda sad, really.

That's cool and all but I wanna see Cowboys make first NFC Championship game appearance since 1996, at the very least.
Yeah, I remember when losing the NFC Championship was seen as a failure. Danny White got a lot of heat for the team losing three straight. Today, just making it to the NFCC, win or lose, would be a big accomplishment. I see that some fans are assuming we'll either be one and done or will win one playoff game and lose the very next one. Yes, that might happen, but I'm going to wait and see what actually goes down. I would be thrilled if this team could get to the NFCC.

I can only speak for myself. I have been a fan since 71 (I am 61) and had a good run as an intense backer of the Cowboys. I still watch every game and certainly feel the ups and downs of the contests, but life has a lot more to offer than football games.
