Gzus;3381800 said:Alan Ball isn't exactly untried.... The guy started 4 games last season and we didn't do too bad when he was in there. I trust w/e the coaching staff decides especially after the moves made last offseason. If they like Ball, Hamlin, and AOA @ FS then I trust em.
montgod;3381814 said:Well... I am not a big fan of Sharper honestly so I wouldn't mind him not being signed.
I don't know though... Wade sometimes says what he is suppose to say instead of what he truly feels imo. Then again, it could also be strategy in possibly trading or signing someone as well. You never know.
And we will see how Ball does. Again, if we find talent within house that can do the job... I am all for it, but if Ball did such a great job last year, why wasn't Hamlin benched? Money again (i.e. Roy Williams)?

I'd like a vet at the position but not someone that keeps potential on the bench.
I don't want to be strapped at safety like we are at receiver with Roy Williams because of a stupid contract.
AOA has all the ability in the world so it just doesn't make sense to sign a guy for 3 or 4 years to me.

Main thing I think it is a numbers game facing the Cowboys and they do not seem willing to part with the safeties they have on the roster for a guy like Sharper. One thing Ball showed me last season he will not get you beat, he may not have the ints but he was not getting burnt in the secondary and to me that is #1 thing
montgod;3381836 said:Yeah... I am with you on the Sharper deal. No thanks...
We will see what Ball has this year in camp. I will say, if JJones goes and gets a player like Atogwe or even Sharper, that tells you what they really think about their S.
ILCWBYSFN;3381619 said:Think I would rather have Atogwe anyway.
jswalker1981;3381889 said:So people want Hamlin gone because all he does is not give up the big play, but can't get INTs. Now we are happy to have Ball because he does the same thing. The safeties I like on our roster to take Hamlin's spot is Mike Hamlin, but even more, AOA. But right now, we want to make the super bowl THIS year. And if that means signing a mercenary like Sharper, then so do it. We have a difficult schedule this year, and if we want to make it to the super bowl, we need to pull out all the stops. And in an uncapped year, we only have one bullet in the FA gun, so let's use it on a difference maker like Sharper. We can sign a veteran OL that gets released to backup Free. Sharper won't be a progress stopper like Atogwe would be. Atogwe would want a long term contract.
