Not the 21 I Expected, But Interesting Nonetheless

While it’s pretty cool you have a versatile FB, Oakland probably did it because they had no one else worth the touch. every carry he gets is a carry you’re taking away from Zeke or Pollard, or something that could have been a PA. Is that the best idea?

honestly....dont think this offense needs a FB....seems a bit antiquated if you ask me

Making every skill player you have on the field a threat is always worthwhile. It actually makes your tailback better because if you hand it to the fullback a few times successfully, run him on a wheel route successfully, drop it off in the flat to him a few times successfully, defenses have to respect that option.

Olawale has the skills to be effective in that role.

I don't expect him to get any carries except in short yardage situations. His real value is in receiving. Having said that what I really want to see is Zeke and Pollard in the 21. I don't mind Pollard taking some play time away from Randall Cobb, since iirc Cobb is only on a one year deal.

Was hoping to see some of this last season, but he was an afterthought in Linehan's offense.

Hes an after thought anytime your main back is Zeke. Either give the leagues leading rusher (your best offensive weapon) the ball or give to an average fb....which would you choose?

Fair questions.

Then again, while Olawale is versatile. He isn’t a great lead blocker. He is ok at it. But not exceptional

So if they only plan on using the fullback as a lead blocker, he isn’t the guy you necessarily want. Keith Smith our previous FB was better at it.

Of course, you also need coaches who are creative enough to use a versatile fullback. Garret and linehan aren’t those guys.

Linehan loved the one-yard passes to TEs, how about using Zeke as a decoy and throwing one of them to an athletic FB instead from time to time?

But you are using him a few times successfully. If you want to give him Oakland production, then you’re featuring him.

You mean like when he did that and dak under threw a pass to olawale who failed to catch it? Yea cute play but like everything it still needed better execution to succeed.

Am I the only one that remembers Olawale's dropped TD pass?

Before anyone blames it on Dak, just hush. The throw was short but any athletic kid at recess makes that catch.

Maybe he can be a receiver, I dont know. I'll never forget that drop though.

Durrrr:rolleyes: that "thrown" pass was like he was throwing it to his 8 year old niece& he didn't want her to fall down and go 'boom',,,

It"s not a carry, it's a catch and run.

The Cowboys pay Cooper more than other WRs. Are you suggesting they always throw to him and nobody else?
