But, it is what it is.

Mazi is a two down guy. I hope they plan on using him on first and 2nd down with Hankins. He's not a big body like Hankins and uses his quick get off to get the upper hand on OL. This smells like a MM kind of pick. He loved them bigger DT in GB. RAJI, Montgomery, Picket, Daniel's all we bigger guys.

Mazi and Hankins would command double teams inside. What think this does is frees up Vander Esch. Say what you want but the 2nd half of the yr Vander was very good. No coincidence he missed the jags game and they lit up this def running the ball.

Hopefully they plan on using him more than the traditional NT, because that would be a waste of a pick considering who was still there. Not saying Mazi is bad but there was alot more production there than a NT

I think the team sees what Mazi could be. Mazi can be so much more than a run stuffer. But he’s gotta do the work and the team has to get it out of him.

How do you know? The scheme at Michigan did not ask him to rush.

So your saying you didnt want a 25 year old blocking TE in the 2nd that had his share of injury problems?

Why do people say guys really two down guys like teams don’t pass on first down?

Are you meaning to say they have bad cardio and Have to be rotated

Yep. And Mazi still put a lot of hits on the QB.
How many is a lot? He has 6 career tackles for loss. Not in a game, not last season, the entirety of his college experience. That’s RBs in the backfield, that’s sacks, that’s getting QBs while scrambling

Last 2 years as a starter he has 31 QB hurries and 11 QB hits. That is coming from a player that was schemed to take on blocks and stop the run.

When you're evaluating talent, something that needs to be factored in is ceiling vs floor. With Mazi I see an incredibly high ceiling. He's just an exceptional athlete, especially for a guy with his frame...its difficult to find that type of player. The thing is, his floor is very high as well. If

Worst case, we're looking at a very good, young run defending 1T. Something we haven't had in quite some time. Best case, we have a monster that collapses the pocket regularly, opens the game up for our pass rushers, and serves as a catalyst that transforms this defense from very good to the best we've seen since the mid 90s.

Mazi was our best pick. Very good player and biggest need.

Personally, I’m hoping Mazi turns out to be like Haloti Ngata. That guy is a 1T and plenty disruptive.

Let us not forget that he should improve with NFL quality coaching, weight room/conditioning and diet.
