I'm sure I'm in the vast minority on this board, but I am just not a big fan of Romac. He's too inconsistent when he "wants to play ball." When he's on, he's a top 5 ILB, but when he slacks off he becomes a detriment to the defense. The reason why the FO keeps giving him these 1 year deals is because there's no LB in FA that they can sign for a good price that is on the same talent level (when he wants to play). At the same time, there's not a LB in the draft at his talent level so you can;t draft one (although I feel Jack could step in an be almost as good).

Is the FO just going to keep buying their time (literally) until a better option comes along, or RoMac finally just says "*** it" and quite, again, all together? I'd rather find someone who is serviceable who we can trust to play balls to the wall every play, every game,

Just my 2 cents

I think you answered your own question somewhere in there.

Can't stand him, and frankly, I would not be surprised if he's played his last down.

Assuming he can FINALLY go an offseason without failing a drug test (which would mean a year suspension), and assuming he still WANTS to play (which is always a big if), and assuming he shows up for camp this time ready to actually play (it has to tick off players and coaches to watch him sit), and assuming he doesn't get another concussion or knee issue that needs attention (an easy way to get out of camp), and assuming no other legal issues catch up with him (there's always something).......

If all that happens, he'll help.

He helped in 2014 without everything turning out perfectly as you said. So idk about All that

I like him. I think he's a b level talent in this league. You have guys go hard 100%. You have guys who don't. Some simply can't. Its mental. I don't think its his lack of want. Its just the player he is. Its why he's here and he has the contract he has. I'd like more consistency but just like most of the players in this league he's not going to do it. Just who he is.

Feel the same way.

Great when he wants to be.

Other times it seems like he does not care and does not give it his all.

Also agree that is why they give him short term contracts...frankly I would not be shocked if he prefers those type of contracts.

But it is what it is and also another reason why although I imagine in their minds this automatically rules out Jack in the first (even if he was fully healthy) but I say they should not pass up and a good LB just because they have RO.

Jack was just cleared to full go for his pro day by his surgeon but like you say, I doubt they draft him at 4!

Looked stiff last season.

If jack can do everything on his pro day and they like him, no reason not to draft him.

As long as they draft another linebacker, for the mike position, I'm ok with bringing McClain back on an one year deal

They've drafted two 4th round LBs (Hitchens, Wilson) that play the mike not even counting Sean Lee.

That's what you want out of your free agent signings. Short, cheap deals while you wait to fix the problem in the draft. Problem is, we're going on our 3rd 1-year deal with RoMc and we still haven't addressed the position early in the draft.

You are not alone.

So much energy wasted on somebody you don't like. That's funny yet weird and sad to me all at the same time.

Makes me support him 10 times more.
