Not what I expected after a bye week

I guess this is who we are a team that gets exposed and worn down about halfway through the season.

Hopeful as I always am I really expected a better plan after a bye week especially when our coach knew their quarterback as well as anyone would.

It looks as though all the teams we have left to play are getting stronger and we are fading.

With the direction things are going in making the playoffs is certainly not a given and after Cooper Rush saving our season this would be an absolute travesty

The Cowboys have holes but the Packers have a Hall of Fame quarterback and where desperate to win the game. My only issue with the loss was it was after a bye week.

The bottom line is we came out off the bye week absolutely flat. there was no pursuit on the defense we'd been seeing all year long, We'll see if Quinn can remedy that.
McCarthy and the boy wonder had nothing new to offer.
Looked like a group of guys that had a great vacation and showed up hungover the last minute to go to work.
This fraud of a head coach has had an entire year to work on penalties and yet we're still spitting them up all over the place. don't give me the nonsense the coach can't control the players penalties! good coaches absolutely do control penalties
There is no excuse.
Im mildly upset :thumbup:if we don't put out better effort this week I'll fire Mike myself.

Happens when you have bad QB.
Okay I know there is a group that doesn't like DAk but let's not turn this into a Dak thread.

Very true he's not Aaron Rodgers but he is surrounded by some very stupid players and when you continually get unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on special teams and pin him deep in his own zone You're not helping him do his best work.

That said after a bye week you would think he and his receivers would be very much on the same page and healthy.

Instead it looked like the Saturday night lights game after the strip club outing

I'm not going to worry about it, nor should you. Give the Cowboys a chance to regroup. I still think this team is a lot better than last year's. We can bounce back. Never put too much weight on a single game. Wait for a pattern.

I'll give you a few examples of many. Back in 2007 the 4-6 Vikings went to Giants stadium to play the 7-3 NY team. The Vikings slaughtered them 41-17 in their own house. I was loving it. I thought for sure the Giants were done. We know how that season turned out.

In 1994 the Eagles went to San Francisco and blew them out 40-8. I said this is great, the 49ers are no longer a threat!! We saw how that turned out.

In both cases they had good coaching staffs. Let's see how ours responds.

Once again either Dak or Moore decides to get pass happy. Your leading by 14. Run the ball, you run the ball. Short passes not drive the ball down field. And I still don’t know why we can’t stop the run. The same little pitch play. Worked so many times.

All you need to do is take a quick look at the salary cap sheet and it will explain everything:

1. 6.8 million in dead money for Jaylon.
2. 6.0 million in dead money for Amari.
3. 5.0 million in dead money for La'el.
4. 10.6 million in dead money for other randon players.
5. 17.5 million tied up in Tyron Smith who is always hurt.
6. 18.2 million tied up in Elliot who sucks all life out of the offense every time he touches it.
7. 20.0 million for a QB who refuses to leave the pocket when we absolutely have to have a first down.

Pretty hard to have a deep team when resources are spent in this way. Honestly it is amazing we are doping as well as we are. We get great contributions from the middle of the roster and we have been pretty lucky health wise.

I think the reality is that we got fat on that winning streak thinking we were better than we are. The Packers exposed certain issues we have - one being that we just don't stop the run very well. We started cheating to help against the run and that gave Rodgers way more help than he needed in just being able to pick us apart.

This game against Minny is really important. Lose and frankly, it kind of solidifies us as some 2nd or third tier team that will be fighting for a playoff spot. Two weeks ago, some were thinking this could be a team that could put pressure on Philly and make a run. That went out the window with a loud clank Sunday evening.

We did run on that drive up 28-21. But there was one call I just didn't like and that was the WR screen to Lamb. Pollard had just run for 7 and 4 and I think Moore got a bit too cute throwing a quick WR screen.

Until proven otherwise, Jimmy Johnson’s description of this team from several years back still applies- “A country club environment”. This team has been soft for far too long. SF basically called us that before the playoff game last yr, told us they were going to run the ball on us, and then proceeded to do just that. Soft.

And as several fans have suggested in other threads, the Cowboys with Jerry as owner have always played better under a HC that is tough on them. Guys like Barry Switzer, Chan Gailey, Wade Phillips, Jason Garrett and maybe Big Mac- they aren’t exactly running a tight ship with high expectations on players. Jerry likes a feel good environment- especially for himself. I believe this team needs a boot camp environment for a change.

Give the Packers credit for sticking with their game plan to just run on the Cowboys with a HOF QB who can make every throw into any space. That was the bottom line Sunday. The Cowboys defense was not prepared to defend a 49 carry running attack from Aaron Rodgers who only had something like 10 throws going into the 3rd Q. Then, Rodgers, the master at play action, just finished the Cowboys off in the 4th Q.

Quinn's D has to stop trying to sack every QB on every play and start playing a more balanced and conventional style of defense. Just pinning your ears back in a race to the QB is killing the Cowboys. Even Lawrence, an excellent run defender, has been caught taking the short rote to the QB, losing contain and getting burned by a run to the edge. The Cowboys DBs also have to become more aggressive tacklers defending the run game.

All during that bye, the players heard about how good they were and how Rodgers and his team were struggling. The DB's figured they could bring their B game for a receiving corps like that one. The best D player for GB was out and they were struggling.

As fans, we kept singing the praises of that pass rush and sweeping that run D under the rug.

The Cowboys are not the only team to do this, the Bills couldn't see the Vikings, led by Kirk Cousins, coming into their town and beating them. And they went up by 17 to prove that and relaxed, probably thinking about the next game.

The Eagles underestimated the Commanders last night. Thought they were the same team they had manhandled previously but the margin of talent is so thin in the NFL and every opponent must be taken as an undefeated one.

One thing I saw in GB, more effort put forth by the Packers. More "gotta have this" and it surely didn't help with predictions that the Big Bad Cowboys were coming to town to put the final stake in their heart of a season.

They said the right things, "gotta win this one for Mike" but haven't we seen that movie so many times with this franchise, talk the talk is the name of the game?

These players thought they were going to Geen Bay to win a game, not play a desperate team. And they played that way.

I was surprised because they’ve won the last 2 post-bye games under McCarthy. I rank this up there with the loss to the Titans coming out of the bye in 2018.

I agree. And the missed PI call was a killer. Not to mention the pick in the endzone.
