I reviewed BP undrafted picks during his tenure.

Tony Romo
Keith Davis
Lousaka Polite
Terrance Copper
Tyson Thompson
Oliver Hoyte
Sam Hurd
Miles Austin

Looks as if he did very well. A full draft worth of picks.
BP could mold talent, this may be his biggest contribution to Dallas.
I hope this trend continues?

Actually, I think it is more that BP didn't give a damn where someone was drafted, what they were getting paid, or what we gave up for them. Case in point -- Henson. Case in point -- Peerless Price. Case in point -- Rocky Boiman.

With Jerry making decisions, all those guys would still be here -- and they'd be taking spots from UDFA types

Ultimately, I think that Parcells was fantastic at finding talent and picking talent.. He just was stuck in his old school style of coaching and didn't use his talent to their full potential.. He reigned them in.. He also wouldn't adjust: in-season or in-game.. He also lost the fire and intensity he had when he was younger.. A genius no doubt, but one that was unwilling to adjust to today's game and one that lost his fire.. But he leaves a very, very talented group of Cowboys that Phillips will reap the benefits of.. Much like Belichik did..

Yeah, Parcells really was good at sniffing out talent - That is why I wished he would stick around in a scouting or GM-like capacity somehow. Jones should have tried to toss some money at him for that.

I think it was less the sniffing out talent and more the belief that if a UDFA was better than a draft pick that the UDFA got the spot.

Wasn't Matt McBriar an undrafted draft pick or had he already been signed by another team who cut him and then we picked him up?

I honestly think Peerless Price, Henson were not his picks/choice as evidence of thier playing time.

The same Bill Parcells that got rid of Shanle and Fujita so he could keep James and Burnett. Some of his decisions were not that sharp.

Perhaps the best thing he did was "give Jeff Ireland his eyes." I believe it is Ireland who the Cowboys must depend upon for a continuation of good drafts -- particularly in the later rounds and free agency.

Letting Shanle and Fujita go was a sound decision. We had more talented LBs to keep.

Why does everyone keep crediting Parcells for bring in Romo? That had much more to do with Sean Payton and David Lee. Both guys beleived in Romo and wanted to spend a 4th round pick on him. When they couldn't convince the Tuna to spend the pick, they were releived to see Romo go undrafted. They were estatic to bring him in and told management that they had their quarterback of the future. I will give Parcells credit for keeping Romo and seeing that there was something to him, but I do not credit him for selecting Romo.

Besides Rony Romo, whom on that list has contributed enough to the team to warrant a draft pick if he were in this year's draft? Keith Davis is not starting material, but a good special teamer, Polite not good enough for this team, Copper released, Thompson a Kick returner, nothing more so far, Hoyte got no playing time, Hurd and Austin mostly special teams.

I would not spend a draft pick on any of these guys even now. Having hopes that some of them will turn into players is exactly why they were undrafted...we have hopes, but absolutely no proof on anyone but Romo. The rest of these guys are not impacting our Wins and Losses.

I think it was more a result of our having pathetic talent up and down our roster when he got here. As we build a more talented team, many of these UDFA's will fall by the wayside and fewer will make the team in the future, as it should be.

PAh lease...these two guys were not that good. Just becuase they were on the Saints doesn't make them good. Being on the saints defense makes them even less impressive.

Uhh...... Hoyte was our starting FB. Faired pretty damn well, too. Stuck his head in there and blew some people up (something Polite was rarely willing to do), showed nice hands when given the opportunity also.

Romo was on the radar of several teams who wanted him as an UFA. While Payton and/or Lee may have discovered Romo, it was BP who got on the phone and convinced him to come to Dallas and that he'd have a chance to compete for the starting job. Romo knew that, with BP, the best players would play, whether they were 1st day draft picks or UFA. That was BP's rep and he was true to his word.

Also, the fact that Payton and Lee wanted to spend a 4th round pick for Romo who was had as an UFA tells me BP made the right decision.

Jerry should hire BP as the head of scouting... I think he will take the GM job for the Jets next year though.

Whatever their ability, they sure had better seasons than either James or Burnett. I will give Burnett the benefit of the doubt since he has only two years in, but James is a real disappointment.

The Saints were are much better team than the Cowboys in 2006, and they were a huge part of that. Shanle and Fujita are laughing their butts off right now.
