DO IT!

Mawae as our starting center in 2006 with Fabini at RT would complete our line for this season. Group of SOLID vets who will not make stupid mistakes.

Adams-Allen-Mawae-Rivera-Fabini

That is an O-line that can get the job done protecting Bledsoe and opening holes.

We'll have Al Johnson for depth at center and Gurode/Peterman depth at Guard and let's not forget Marc Colombo for depth.

Do it Parcells...These two signings would complete our line in a one swoop and we can move on to other positions!!

but old guys coming off injuries= major keeping your fingers crossed

other than Adams, not one of those projected 5 OL has any upside whatsoever

2 years, not much more than vet min. not much bonus and i'd agree. just no more high $ 30+ guys anymore.

nope. it sure doesn't. but it does mean (no matter how you wish it didn't) they're old. they've got by average only a few years left and no, they're - by averages, NOT going to be as good as they were. can some "superman" appear? sure. last years superman was rivera.

would ANYONE do the rivera deal again?

that's the question we need to ask in older OL's now.

I would say either sign Fabini or Mike Williams, if you think you can motivate Williams. Big plus sign Bentley too, if the salary cap is signed and you have the extra 14 million or so to sign him.

They reported that talks were to sign it at about 108 million. Was reported that we have 12 million to 15 now at cap at 94.5, and still have the restructed contracts of Riveria and Fergueson which should bring us another 9 million. That would put us at about 21 to 24 million. Reports are also that they are trying to restructure Larry Allen's contract by April at least. That should give us another 1-3 million. If the cap is signed it should bring us another 14 million to add to what we have already, that should put us at about 32-35 million.

Remember now, the Cowboys like to keep about 5-6 million in reserve, besides 2.5 million to sign the draft prospects. When cap is signed, and I think it will, That leaves about 24-27 million left to sign free agents.

With that in conclusion, we signed Bledsoe, Riveria, Anthony Henry and Fergueson, with Glenn for about 30 million. Now, some players will realize that some teams dont have cap space but only about 10 teams or so will be in good shape to sign players like we did last year, Minnesota did, and New York Giants. I think we should be about to sign 4-5 players with that much money, still have some left over for emergency during season too.

I'd say pass on both. I might take Fabini if he comes really really cheap.

They already have an old, unreliable, and pricey O-Line....they don't need to bring in more old guys that are pricey and coming off seasons where they were injured.

I think I'd take a stab with Mike Williams and figure that hopefully that somebody in the group of Tucker, Petitti, Columbo, Williams, and a rookie pick will be good enough to be a decent right tackle. If you can get Williams to lose some weight, he's got experience at both tackle spots and guard.

Rich............
still thinks that finding a good left tackle should be the biggest priority for the O-Line.

Fabini - 1 year $1M deal only

Less than 2 hours till Blood! Should be a lot of Cap $ FOR THE TEAMS UNDER LIKE US!

Then I'd take that deal and welcome him aboard.

I'd still focus on drafting a tackle though.

would fabini do a 1 year deal and if he would, and we offer a "lot" of 1 year deals to "older" players.

i think if we see us stockpile on "vets" then yes, we're definately on a "win now at all costs" season and i will shudder.

We've already got youth at tackle on the team. More youth would accomplish nothing. We need a veteran RT to help guide the youth we already have on the team.

I'll take Fabini for a season or two. No thanks on Mawae unless he's REALLY cheap. I know we won't do it, but I'd like to go after LeCharles Bentley (who is better and younger then Al Johnson).

Yes, but are youthful players quite frankly suck. And for that matter, there's no guarantee that they can be anything in the NFL.

What they need is a good, young player. Getting another veteran and just sticking with that is too risky for the short term future and doesn't look ahead to the long term future.

Plus, we have a lot more veterans on the O-Line than we do youth. If those guys haven't learned from Adams, Allen and Rivera by now, I don't think adding Fabini will suddenly do wonders.

Petitti was a rookie that played hurt most of last season. I don't think it's fair to evaluate his career just yet. He will get better, and a vet to learn from would only help his progress.

If the guys that actually make the decisions for the cowboys get into the business of giving up on players after one season then the team will be in deep doodoo.

What happens if we draft a RT in the first and he stinks it up just as bad as Petitti did last year? Draft another one in 07? We've got the youth at RT, now we need a vet. Not to mention if we draft a RT that's even MORE money spent on the OL. A stop-gap guy like Fabini wouldn't cost a whole lot and we wouldn't be resigning him at the end of his contract so no harm done.

It would be wise to actually DEVELOP a player or two every now and then.

Old doesn't mean bad but it does mean they are more likely to injure themselves running on a frickin treadmill. There is all of this talk about Bentley but what about signing Hutchinson and cutting one of our geezers. The Seahags Transition Tagged him instead of franchising him. With all of our cap space we can surely make an offer they can't match. Tell us how it can be done Adam.

I would like it more if the Cowboys could sign Mawae and Mike Williams so Dallas Cowboys O-Line would look like this::

Flozzell Adams_Larry Allen_Kevin Mawae_Marco Rivera_Mike Williams
