Notes & Observations from Rookie Minicamp, Jersey Numbers

Interesting that we have the first NFL player from the Navajo Nation ... on the Cowboys. I guess since some teams had to change their mascots, he had nowhere else to go to represent.

One team changed their mascot. What are you talking about?

Ah, true. I guess I was thinking about the college teams (and baseball), too. Our Native American could have still chosen the Chiefs.

Had it not been for injuries over the course of his career at Florida, Cowboys fourth-round pick Devin Moore is confident he would've been one of the more sought-after cornerbacks in the 2026 draft class.
This is the one player who could put this draft class right up there in the elite level.

And don't sleep on seventh-round wide receiver Anthony Smith either.

In other notes, the Cowboys have cut UDFA guard/tackle Sidney Fugar after signing UDFA guard D.J. Wingfield. Based on a picture from the official website it appears Wingfield is wearing #64.

The Cowboys also list veteran LB Dee Winters as wearing #53, meaning James Houston needs a new number.

when i saw anthony smith # 83. I immediately thought of anthony miller. i had to go look him up. first off i thought he played more than one year in dallas, plus i didnt think it was way back in 1997.

The Smith kid has something to him
