Nothing special on Special Teams

Am I the only fan missing Harris in the return game? With all the injuries, it would be nice to get an occasional return to midfield. Beasley is handling the catches well, but the guy has no clue afterwards. Why is Lucky even on the team if he can't return kicks and/or punts?

Harris was absolutely terrible in the return game last season. I only miss him in the punt game. He made some great tackles.

I'm not a fan of Whitehead, but the Cowboys did return a blocked punt for a TD. That's pretty special.

Either chance Whitehead or just cut him. Throwing Beasley in there to be a human pinata will only hurt him. He doesn't see the field and concedes the return almost right away.

Just don't turn the ball over or get pinned inside the 10 yard line and I'm happy.

I think they want Lucky to lose the nervousness of a rookie early in the season before they give him some returns.

beasley is too small for that role. you can tell he's hesitant to plant his foot and go upfield on returns. if whitehead can't take over that role than what is he good for? i said they should have given him a chance in the ATL game.

That's very possible but it also seems to me that they need to give him some gametime experience if he's ever going to be successful in achieving that comfort level of which you speak. I do hope you're right, nevertheless.

Here is what I don't understand. Every year we draft and we almost always know we won't have enough roster spots for most of the 5th round picks or later, especially as of the past two seasons. Why don't we ever draft in the 5th round on a return specialist or a full back. These are two very important and forgotten aspects of our team.

OTOH, our special teams coverage has been much improved this year. I'll take that along with a block-free kicking and punting performance any day.

If lucky cant return kicks. And cant play wide reciever, than the only reason i can see his roster spot justified is for injury insurance. Im hoping with devin street doing, whatever it is hes (not) doing, lucky gets on the field sunday night, if for nothing else a set of fresh legs and a new target. With street struggling badly it cant hurt, unless they have no confidence in his route ability, which i go back to point 1.

I keep waiting as well to see Lucky on the field, I take it this is a matter of trust. I would at least hope he is working on the return game during practice and that he will gain the confidence of the coaches to step into that role. Ball security is critical

Every time Beasley touches the ball, I have that same feeling I had with Demarco last year........just waiting for the ball to pop out.
