Nothing's guaranteed for Jonathan Mingo, could be competing for roster spot in 2025

That plus a rookie contract (2 years left) plus giving up a 4th just 7 months ago puts him on the 53.

I can't believe we just went over all this 2 weeks ago and now this article about him is written to we have to go over it all again!
I got Mingo as WR3 over Tolbert. Mingo is a big body WR who brings physicality that is needed. He's a good run blocker too which will make Schotty happy.

If you are still saying this was a good trade.

You are a homer. It’s pretty simple.

The guy sucks. The trade for Pickens proves the team agrees. Or Jerry wouldn’t have pulled the trigger.
I don't think it was a good trade but I haven't been proven right on it. He hasn't even had a offseason yet with the team.

Pickens is also on a one year deal so may be hoping for Mingo to merge as a #2 next year.

Mingo couldn’t even crack the starting lineup on a bad panthers team. He’s going to do it in Dallas with lamb and Pickens in front of him?

Come on dude.

I never said he would be in front of Pickens and Lamb lol. I'm saying Pickens isn't a long term solution here and next year Mingo could very well be in the running as the #2 or #3 if he proves he can. He maybe can't. I don't know. I know the guy had potential in college and Panthers aren't the model organization for me to trust their judgement on talent when they are the ones who gave 2 1st rounders and more to draft Young over Stroud.

No. But our front office traded for him because of their draft grade on him.

Does he look like a second rounder to you?

He’s terrible. Guys don’t magically figure it out in year 4.

Yeah I should believe posters who have never meant or seen Mingo practice over guys that are in the training room and at practices with him.

Cowboys zone, where posters know more then coaches and the front office.
We can't base our perception on what we've seen video evidence of?

They read it here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a dumb trade. Only homers on this site think otherwise.
It was. Made no sense. Especially during last seasons throw away year where the draft picks were so needed. They got Pickens for a 3. Mingo may have been worthy of a 7. They had 2 years of nfl film if him doing nothing to realize their draft eval was crap.

Holden, Cropper, Campbell, Flournoy, Harmon and Brooks are all better prospects.

Seth Williams is also likely a better player.

I have Josh Kelly and Mingo neck and neck for that last place spot.
No way. Your dislike for the trade is showing.
Cropper is a perennial PS player. He is here because he is fast. Campbell is far ahead of him already, as he is fast also.
Harmon, same, PS player. Same for Williams. There is a reason these players are on. the PS, not on the 53.

Brooks and Flournoy are later round picks. They showed something in games, and played with Rush. So now they get a chance to see what they can do with Dak. They will compete with Mingo.

Holden we have no idea until we see him. He could flash in TC and PS games. I will not say anything until we see him, but that will be fans opinions on good or bad. The coaches know more.

Why? What has Mingo done at the NFL level to show he is better than the rest of these guys?

His .62 Yards per route were 111th out of 112 eligible players. Hes only .72 for his career which also would have been 111th in the NFL last year.

As far as snaps go he was pretty on par with Brooks and Flournoy since he came to Dallas last year so he certainly didnt show the coaching staff that he was outperforming the lower on the roster guys.

I get there is potential there based on his measurables, but he is yet to show it on the field.
I blame MM and the coaches for his lack of production. As well, Rush at QB. Coming in mid year, with a back up QB, and a team without a running game, and a make shift OL. And aHC the did not use him, nor seems to care to.

I will wait and see how he looks.

I completely agree that we need to take a wait and see approach with Mingo. How he does in camp this year is going to be up to him.

What I don't understand is blaming MM for the lack of production. Is it MMs fault that he came over in a mid season trade? Is it his fault there was a backup QB and make shift OL when he got here? Also wasn't Brian Schottenheimer not OC last year?

Since coming from Carolina Mingo received similar snaps to Turpin, Flournoy, and Brooks. These guys all had the same QB, OL situation, etc. The only difference is yes Mingo did come over mid season and its possible he was a little slow picking things up....We still have the issue however of him not doing well in Carolina either. Granted Carolina is not exactly an offensive powerhouse the last couple of years, he still was once again outplayed by his peers. Xavier Leggette, David Moore, Adam Thielen, Jalen Coker, and Dionte Johnson had all pretty much passed him on the depth chart leading to Mingo being traded in the first place. Not exactly fighting off all pro players for time on the field, and these guys were all outperforming Mingo with the same QBs (Young/Dalton) throwing them footballs.

With Carolina Mingo had 197 passing snaps, 27 targets, 12 catches, 121 yards.....Eerily similar poor production to his time in Dallas.

Hes still just 24 so you dont give up on him yet, but I struggle to see how this was a coaching issue. Going into year 3 I think either things have clicked for him or it could be time to move on if some of these other young guys are showing to have higher ceilings.

It's only year 3. He isn't terrible. If he was terrible he wouldn't be on any NFL roster.
So we can't be critical of any NFL players as they are all excellent because they are on NFL rosters?

C'mon man obviously these are all top tier football players to make it this far, but the measuring stick changes when guys get to this level. Chaz Green made NFL rosters....horrible NFL player though.

True…and Mingo was open a lot but Rush couldn’t get the ball to him. I think Mingo will beat out Tolbert.

Waiting for any kind of reasonable rebuttal to this.

But it's easier just to scapegoat Mike McCarthy.
