They called a great game, not because the Cowboys won but they let football be played. No challenges maybe a couple of non calls on both teams, but they called a great game. I think this crew should teach all the other crews!

Good call on that observation. They did call a good game. Thought they let a few calls go that would've definitely been called with other crews.

other than the constant holding on Ware, yes

First time I've ever agreed with you.

They missed a TON of holding calls.

...but the OP is right, overall, this game was called better than most I've seen this year. They let up on the secondary calls. Thank god.

the replay booth challenged the play by Spencer on the last Saints drive.

lol,,, it's all relative. Given the typical lopsided officiating that follows the Cowboys around, this game qualifies as being well officiated,,, at least they let the teams play and more-or-less evened out the holding calls.

They certainly laid off the pass interference calls. Other crews would have given the Saints those calls. The Saints O-Line got the benefit of the doubt on a lot of possible holding calls though. I thought Brees has an intentional grounding at one point that wasn't called.

Still, much better than what we have had in the past.

oh yea but that was automatic, I meant the coaches did not throw the red flag

They consistently blew atrocious holding calls, but this was probably the best officiated game in the NFL on both sides of the ball all season. It really doesn't let anyone take away from the Cowboys' win, and even if the Saints had won, we couldn't have blamed it on the officials.

What is sad is that we are so used to getting screwed by the officials, that any game where the refs "let them play" is considered good.:D

Seriously, while there were a ton of holds that were not called (Ware was getting raped), I far prefer the officiating tonight than what we have had all year.

It could be that we are getting down to playoff time and usually when we start talking about playoff games, the officials usually "let them play" and only call the most blatant penalites.

i was most impressed with them not going with the ticky tack pass interference calls against dallas. Several times last night I help my breath waiting to see a flag on passes that were too high with the DB and WR making contact with one another...I am too used to seeing BS flags in those situations.

I agree 100%.

Awesome officiating tonight.

With a mediocre/terrible crew, we probably lose tonight.

The non-PI calls were impressive.

I shouldn't be "impressed" over non-calls, but after what I've seen this season, it was a relief to see refs actually knowing what they're doin.

Maybe it wasn't the officiating but the Cowboys making the decision to play sound fundamental football. The first quarter was probably the best all year and this marks one of the biggest wins for Tony Romo in his life.

This game propelled him to elite pro bowl status:eek:thers to consider;

Demarcus Ware
Matt Mcbriar
Keith Brooking
Jason Whitten
Andre Gurode
Leonard Davis
Miles Austin?

well they rarely call holding. (players hold on every play) so 2 times on each side out of 124 plays when you have 124 holds in a game is pretty rare

and the incidental contat on roy was kind of bullcrap

but whatever.

They could have called TNew a couple of time so it evened out.

Can we have this crew every week? :D

Me too. I was very happily surprised when no flags were thrown on a number of pass plays. Typically they would be. On the Saints side they got away with a lot of holds so it evened out IMO.

I don't expect the officials to be perfect just to call the game fairly and I think McAulay's crew did a great job in that respect. I will look for games that his crew is doing in the future to see how they are.

and Newman did the exact same thing in the endzone. no call. 14 point swing. At least we took advantage of the refs helping us this week, unlike last week.

Austin's numbers should lock him into the Pro Bowl. SHOULD!
