I was listening to radio last week when I was up north. It seems like only one of the guys is off the team indefinatly and others will only miss a couple of weeks. Most of the players were backup and only one guy a special teams starter. They may be better off.
For a team that routinely is below the 85 scholarship limit, losing potentially 6 guys is damaging. With Redfield gone, you are replacing a senior with a true freshman on the two deep, backed up by another true freshman. Redfield wasn't great by any means, but losing that kind of experience hurts.
For the other guys in the Focus - Williams, Stepherson, White and Coney, only White was not projected to have a role with the team. Williams is their most explosive running back in terms of speed, Stepherson, a true frosh, looked very good in early practices, and Coney was in the running to replace Jaylon Smith (position went to Greer Martini, for now). Devin Butler, the guy cited for assaulting a cop, is recovering from a broken foot, and won't be available until mid to late October. Butler's charges look somewhat suspect given the police report, the fact that they conducted no interviews with any witnesses, and that the cop who made the allegations has been cited for aggressive conduct on multiple occasions.
