Dallas traveled to the Rams. The Rams at the time of the meeting were 3-6. They would end up 6-10.

The Jim (Chrissy) Evert led Rams had nothing that year. Dallas was an 8-1 team heading to LA. Dallas had 4 future Hall of Famers on the field that day.

They lost 27-23.

It happens. It is embarrassing. But the any given Sunday chestnut is true. Sometimes you are the window and sometimes you are the bug.

So which is more likely? The six win Cowboys are really a sham and lucked out with that record and the offensive production?

Or they had a flat day?

The people who travel this site looking for the small little cracks in the Dallas façade, so they can gloat will tell you Dallas is a sham.

These are people who hide in the darkness when Dallas is doing well. These are the people whose antics suggest low character.

These are the people on this board that are of the same nature as SAS.

This will be a tough week because they lost.

But this was not the Super Bowl. It is one of 17 games. The story of this season was not written today, nor will it be for another several months.

As Dragline told Cool Hand Luke, "Get mad at them damned eggs."

Dallas, get mad at them damned teams on your schedule.

I remember this game because it pissed me off. I remember #84 Jay was just short of a TD at the end.

Thanks for this.

This happens in every sport all across the nation. Sometimes, teams just don't show up. Nothing worked today, but this isn't us. We'll definitely be focused next week.

Pretty sure that was a home game and the Cowboys were in it the entire day. Actually lead at one point.

You are correct, it was a home game. Doesn't change the fact Dallas should have beaten them.

I swear I remember that game being in LA. No matter.

Wasn’t that game in Dallas? They were flat that day but no where near as bad as this team was today. I didn’t think this team was capable of what they did today. I thought maybe flat and lose to a Denver team but to get completely embarrassed is unacceptable. I don’t think this example compares. Maybe the 31-7 beat down that year by Philly but again at least Philly had a hell of a team that year.

Yup and we got blown out by the Eagles an gave the game away to the Commanders in 92. This team will lose again, its a long season, but I think they'll make a run at it this year deep into playoffs. That 92 team was reading the press clippings too but they turned it around.

I mentioned that exact game last week.

It felt the same going in.

As someone who wasn't born yet when that occurred, thank you for posting this. It helps me put this match in perspective. It happens. Just have to play better and learn.

Aikman tried to pull that pass back and the ball ended up in the endzone and the Commanders won. There was a rumor running around the team after that game that Jimmy went a little crazy on the plane home.

Yup, he wasn't going to let the team eat on the flight back until Jerry calmed him down, then he got a little tipsy and went to the back of the plane and told off a backup lineman....great book by Jeff Perlman
