The tip of my middle finger is twisted up. Not as bad as Holts but it points down. Getting your fingers caught in a Jersey is no joke.

That was Jack Youngblood. He was a DE for the Rams and played in the 1979 SB against the Stealers with a broken femur.

I was watching one of those NFL network "10 best" things, and a lot of the old-timers who played against him kept saying "yea, right there's no way it was broken. Hurt bad, sure, but not broken" (paraphrased, of course). Just interesting stuff :)

It was actually his fibula. I don't mean to correct you or nitpick, but there's a pretty huge difference. The femur is your thigh bone and nobody's playing with a fractured femur. The fibula is the thin little bone that runs alongside your tibia (shin bone). It's the outer part of your ankle. Don't get me wrong, that hurts too, but it's much more manageable. It's not a major weight-bearing bone like the femur or tibia.
I broke my fibula twice. The second time I was playing basketball and thought I had just sprained my right ankle really badly. I walked to my car carrying my gym bag, drove 45 minutes home (driving with the broken ankle), then decided to get an X-ray - broken fibula and severe sprain.
I'm not trying to sound tough, but as awesome as "playing with a broken leg" sounds, it's doable for a few hours. They wrap these guys tight, shoot them up with pain killers, adrenaline's going, and they're tough S.O.B's to begin with. It's still an inspiring display of toughness.

My bad. Skipped right past the Romo part.

And to answer your question, I say no. IIRC, Romo broke the bone in the meaty part of his hand.

The bone that you hit someone with if you were giving someone one of Diemon Dave's Judee chops.

It wasn't his whole finger just the tip and he did it so he wouldn't have to miss the whole season.

He's a nice fit for Jacksonville.

Finally someone who can run a route for Garrard. Also, they drafted 3 WRs--and at least 2 that will have good careers, imo. Add that to drafting 2 top quality OTs plus adding tra Thomas and they had a nice offseason.

Both Mike Thomas (Pac 10 all-time leading reaciever), and Jarett Dillard (NCAA all-time leader in TD receptions) are already fairly polished for rookies--according to Holt and others--but they are soaking up whatever Tory will give them. Suppossedly Tiquan Underwood has a shot too. Holt is a willing teacher.

i love stories like that. in the 1970 world cup semi final in soccer franz beckenbauer broke his arm but as germany had made all their allowed substitions he put his arm in a sling and finished the game. regarding holt, how is that not agony every time he catches the ball?

Atleast that's a legit excuse unlike somebody who just left Dallas for Buffalo.

His toughness shouldn't be questioned after that gutsy Super Bowl performance. No one comes back from a broken fibula that fast and performs at that high of a level. He also gutted it through a broken hand for us. Whats Crayton's excuse?

Owens may have been a diva, but he was a tough diva.

Staubach's pinky finger used to look like that. Some of his teammates were grossed out by it.

These football players are always getting jacked up one way or the other.

The time I met Too Tall and Hollywood after a game at TX Stadium, they stopped to talk to me and my friend before borarding a bus (not many other players did, they just went stright to the bus), I shook Hollywoods hand, then Too Tall's hand. Too Tall looked down on me and told me, "Easy my man, my fingers are hurting like hell"! :D

Linemen are always getting their fingers squashed and a hurt finger is painful as you all know.

But, I'm pretty sure that a few hours latter, a few hits of Horse, and a midnight raid at the White House, those fingers were good to go...places.

I'm complaining because he dropped way too many passes. I didn't say anything about T.O.'s toughness but since you brought it up, tough or not, he dropped too much. Glad he and his "diva" sideshow are gone.

Crayton's excuse is he sucks!
