Can I ask why you were excited? This was a guy who nobody who covers the draft thought was even a priority free agent. I didn't read a single mention of his name in the months prior to the draft on this board or anywhere else. I highly doubt even 2% of the active membership here have watched him play. Probably less than that.

It wasn't just you. I read tons of excitement over that pick. Why? What other reason could there be besides he was simply a Cowboys draft pick?

They had one injury they were rehabbing from. Johnson has had three different injuries now and he hasn't even practiced. This guy gets hurt while rehabbing. How is he ever going to hold up during live action? I liked the pick but it's becoming obvious that this kid is not going to pan out. I hope I'm wrong but this guy is likely gone next year after they draft a safety and bring in another veteran.

Yeah, but that'd only be another 2-week injury, so it's all good.

While I will never argue about drafting safety with the very low talent level we have at the position right now, it is a bit early totally give up on Matt.

That said, I don't see anything that shows he will contribute this season. Best case, Matt gets healthy and wins playing time by the end of the season, we draft a safety with real talent to go with him, and they are both starting next season.

Will that happen, maybe not, but it is a hope cause a great secondary can really make a difference in this pass happy league and that is the reason to hold out hope for Matt.

All right lets turn that around: how did Johnson hurt his hamstring or back? What was he doing?

What do the MRI or other diagnostic results look like? How has his rehab been going in terms of effort or otherwise?
