Now (post-injury) when will Dez Bryant start?

That was stupid, but i've learned from then. I assure you i've never said Miles ran a 2.56 like some say about Dez.

Everything he says is using statistics to prove, which some of what he has said proves my some of previous statements correct. Austin was the best WR in the league last year by the numbers, Jets would still have a great D without Revis & Fitz was a average at best starter. 3 points that I have said in the past that got me ridiculed, but the numbers support it :).

Whoever said he ran it in 2.56 wasn't being in the least bit serious and the fact that you actually took them serious means they got exactly what they wanted out of either you personally or others. For someone to take such a ridiculous statement as true and get bent out of shape about it.

And where did this guy get the idea that they'd be a great D without Revis? Where is his supporting evidence that they'd still be so darn good without him out there shutting down one side of the field?

Would they still be pretty darn good? Probably. But as great without him taking 1 WR entirely out of the game? Not hardly.

And Fitz had a down year by Fitz standards but he hardly had a horrible year. Ask 31 other GMs or Head Coaches in the NFL if they wouldn't love to have Fitz for any of their guys and I'll bet you at least 29 of them would trade their top guy for Fitz without even blinking an eye.

The only exceptions I can think of would be maybe the Texans or the Colts not giving up Johnson or Wayne for him.

If Jerry Jones could get Fitz for Williams or even Austin, at this point, straight up he'd very likely give do it, or at least give it serious consideration on the part of Austin.

And that's not cause I don't think Austin has the talent to be a great WR. He does and he showed he does. The difference being that we've only seen Austin do it once without defenses really knowing about him much yet. This year will be the year for him. If he can do it again when defensive schemes will now be put in place all week to shut him down we'll have something very special.

Fitz has already done that, multiple times, so he's a far more proven commodity.

Which is what you want at any position. Year to year production and, at this point, we don't know that about Austin yet.

Will he produce big again? Probably. I wouldn't bet against him but there is a shot, all the same, that he won't ever produce again like he did last year. We'll have to wait and see.

Either way he's certainly not the best WR in the league. I'm sorry, Cowboy or not, and I love the guy, he's just not.

There is no way, at this point, I'm putting him above Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Larry Fitz, or even Randy Moss yet.

There are still a handful of guys, those listed for sure, who I'd put over Austin any day of the week, without blinking an eye, at this point.

In another couple of years we'll see if I feel the same. I like to see my guys do it for a few years before I annoint them the best.

For example I've got a buddy who thinks Vernon Davis is the best TE in the league now based off of 2009 cause he cause so many TDs and had his first great year.

Well excuse me if I wouldn't take a guy whose had 1 great year over a guy like Witten whose done it for MULTIPLE YEARS in a row now.

The same thing is how I feel about Austin. Let him earn his stripes getting the job done for a few years before we start putting him up in the upper tier of WRs in the league.

Dez did run a 2.56.

He came in a full 2 seconds faster than Stanback's 40.

Listen to the football today podcast, he explains all the stats.

Thanks but I'll go by what I've seen on the field.

As much as I like Austin and what he's shown thus far if someone was offering me Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson (especially Johnson), or Larry Fitz, right now, straight up for Austin I'll take the trade and never look back.

With those guys I KNOW they're going to get it done from year to year cause they've done it. They've put that proof on tape.

With Austin I'd be banking on the idea that his potential he showed, and showed a whole lot of last year, would translate into him doing it year after year.

Given that this team is built to win now, and possibly multiple times in the next few years, I'd gladly take the proven, many times over, players instead of the guy I believe/hope/pray will be every bit as good this year as he was before.

I'm certainly no expert, by any means, but I'm willing to bet the vast majority of GM's and HC's out there would make the same move, given the position the Cowboys are currently in, and wouldn't lose a second of sleep over it.
