Well, I've learned that punctured and collapsed are basically the same thing.casmith07;4128402 said:Lots of reports are coming out in newspapers now that Romo's lung is collapsed.
What is really going on? What has the team confirmed?
SDCowboy85;4128407 said:No they aren't actually collapsed.
casmith07;4128412 said:This is what I'm saying...a puncture doesn't necessarily lead to a collapse. A collapsed lung would have severely impaired his ability to yell out snap counts and he would have been extremely fatigued.
Not sure where the collapse reports stemmed from (because I didn't hear it from the team itself) but the Washington Post has it this morning in their free Express paper...so go figure there.
Also, Skins fans are unbearable this week. It's a big reason I don't necessarily trash talk until after the game.

Ah. Yeah I'm no doctor, just heard several people saying it in some other Romo thread so figured it to be the case. That's what I get for not researching.Sam I Am;4128442 said:A punctured lung usually leads to a collapsed lung, but lungs can collapse without being punctured too.
When I quit smoking back in 2001, I got a really bad lung infection that caused a collapsed lung. The doctor said the lung infection was because the lungs went into shock due to me quitting smoking. (how about that, you get sick because you quit smoking!)

It resulted in a 15 percent collapse in my left lung, which is considered a small collapse and did not require a tube to be inserted to allow the lung to reinflate. It still hurt like a mother though. Was very hard to take deep breaths. If I exerted myself too much I got dizzy and was in severe pain so I can only imagine what Tony was going though.
