As it was pointed out, the Boys really need a true NFL caliber backup QB with the signing of TO. Sorry, Henson and Romo backers, but they just aren't going to cut it and why go through the stress of hoping that they can if Bledsoe gets hurt?

If the Titans go after a QB, which we ALL know they will. The Boys are in a perfect position to trade for Volek. His contract wouldn't be justified as a backup along with a highly paid first round QB.

This would be the most ideal trade and backup QB compared to what is already out there....mostly just bums.

Yes, Collins and Griese might be okay, but I would rather have Volek backing up Bledsoe. He can really sling the ball!

Go get him Jerruh!!

Remember Rob Johnson?

And what does he have to do with Volek?

You can't compare Volek to Johnson. We all know Johnson was a bum.

But no one in the entire league knew he was a bum until someone overpaid for him and made him a starter.

Volek is Alvin Harper personafied. Great as long as he is a #2, literally.

I'm game. I say get Aaron Brooks though.

Talentwise, sure he would be a good choice. But now that TO is signed, I don't think we want him to start a posse of knuckleheads by signing Brooks. Besides, the Boys lost some of the good leaders on the team like Campbell and Glover. We don't want the headcases to out number the normal team players.

Well, if I do recall, Volek performed pretty nicely in McNair's absence. And we all know how much McNair gets injured. He would understand his role as the #2 and do the job well. No one wants him as a number one, but if he has to do it, he can come in a game w/a moments notice and perform. That's all I would want.

Currently, what do the Boys have? Are Henson or Romo #2? No...they are closer to a #10 in terms of the depth chart because they don't have any experience and haven't played enough to be successful in those type of situations. And I wouldn't want to depend on them in a pinch with their current experience.

Volek is still under contract, right? If looking at non-FA's, then I don't think Volek is a bad call... I may prefer Matt Schaub, however.

If looking at available FA's, then the picking is slim. Brooks, Fiedler, Collins, Griese... none of them really interest me enough to give up on Romo and Henson.

I thought Volek signed a contract last year to stay w/ the Titans for a while.

He is, but I doubt the Titans want to pay big money to 3 qbs (assuming that the Titans will definitely pick a qb in the first round of the draft)

Volek also stated that if the Titans were to draft a QB that he was going to seek a trade. There is also the possibilty that they work something out to release the guy. He doens't want to waste out there in Tennesse with McNair being the starter. Also whoever the Titans draft is gonna be a favorite.

Leinart-Chow and Fisher
Young- McNair
Cutler- Hometown favorite

I remember a few years back Volek lit it up. Last year the Titans lost almost all the WR's to either injury or FA so he looked mediocore last season.

Im thinking anything but Henson next season. Also remember that when we were a good team we had pretty good backups in Buerlein and Kosar.

We also had Steve Walsh too who was a decent backup also.

And actually, Volek lit it up last year too. I don't think he was as good as the year before, but I do think the lack of wrs was a huge reason why.

Henson did okay in his NFL Europe debut. It's still possible he may turn into something more than a clipboard holder in the NFL.
