Of our remaining possible UFA's who needs to get done next? Canty? I think he is up.

Anyone know how we are looking salary cap wise for next year?

I honestly don't know how we've managed to re-sign so many of our own FA's. Jerry is working some pretty crazy magic, I just hope that it doesn't come back and bite us when it's time to re-sign the best player on the team.

Ware will be the next big money contract. As for Canty I want us to resign him but hopefully it will be to an affordable deal.

You got to give Jerry credit here, he has done an excellent GM job.

I dont know why so many people want him to hire a GM and back off, the last time I checked it is the job of the GM to acquire and retain talent.

I think Jerry has done an outstanding job of acquiring talent and retaining the talent with long term contracts.

Jerry the GM is not the problem folks.

Ware is a MUST SIGN!!!

As for Canty, he is a good player but not a difference maker like Ware.

If Canty will agree to an affordable deal, I keep him. If Canty wants Fort Knox I tell him to hit the road.

Noway I break the bank for Canty, he doesnt have the stats for a mega deal.

I agree but he's playing much better this year.

Jerry might wait to see if the CBA gets extended before he re-signs Ware. If it doesn't, 2010 will be uncapped, and he can pay Ware whatever he wants. If it does get extended, he'll have a better idea what the cap will be and whether there are any significant rule changes that would affect a megadeal.

Merry Christmas Adam, how does Columbo's deal affect our cap for next season???

Any chance we can sign a stud free agent like Haynesworth next year???

I also agree that Ware is definitely next. I'd rather resign Rat and Spears than Canty, even though Canty is ginormous and great in the pass-rush.

Man, I'm so praying for an uncapped 2010.

Adam is right. The potential of an uncapped year means Jerry can frontload the hell out of Ware's deal. I'm sure he has told Ware that he is just waiting on the new CBA and that Ware will get the deal he deserves.

I'm with the rest of the posters. I'd approach Canty but if he starts talking big money, end the conversation right there. The only free agents that I think could come in and have a major impact for us are Haynesworth, Julius Peppers, and Terrell Suggs. If we were to sign Peppers or Suggs it would mean 3 things...
1. Ware was re-signed first.
2. Ellis was cut.
3. Spencer was most likley traded.

I like Spencer but the idea of Ware on one side and Peppers on the other is pretty scary. And no it's not Madden. Carolina will have to franchise Jordan Gross or Julius Peppers so 1 of them is hitting the open market.
