I guess you could call it a lackluster showing. But it'll be worse in the playoffs. All the teams in the playoffs have a solid offense. And anybody with that can pick Dallas apart. It's all 10 yard stuff to. If you bring the OLB to rush, they just toss it into the vacant flat. Zimmer hasn't figured it out yet, after New Orleans really exposed it.

I heard it said that the Dallas Dline is young and set for 10 years. I guess that won't be a good 10 years. Spears and Canty can't beat one guy to the QB. I've been watching and they can't. They have no moves. Either that or Zimmer is just having them stand up and hold their ground. Ferguson gets better pressure and he's always doubled.

You'd think with one more LB to cover in the 3-4, they'd get that swing pass under control? ahh, but no.

Roy Williams, where have you gone? after watching you give a lackluster bump to the the blocker twice that I saw monday, letting Westbrook pick up chunks of yardage, I can't help but think you've been schemed out of what you do best and it's taken away your enthusiasm for the game.

And you can't blame the safties for that loss. 2 back to baCK drives the length of the field in the first half. I knew right then, it was over.

we looked flat

but you cant expect 3 guys to beat 5 or 6 to the QB it's just not gonna happen not in the league.that said we use the 3-4 like it's supposed to be and diguise the 4th rusher where ever it may be

roy w.- stop trying to give out concossions and cover someone anyone please. he just looks lost out there sometimes

we need to play to our strengths, run the ball keep the d off the field and when they are on the field punish people

but in order to do that you have to be ahead or close run the ball and stop the run , make them 1 dimensional and take away their only dimension

anyone disagree?????????????????

how many times does it take before y'all realize it?

SCHEME SCHEME SCHEME!!!!

Spears was freakin quoted as saying that it was semi-frustrating, scheme-wise, that they were told to hold their ground and not particularly rush the passer, but just to control the gaps...... in other words, play defense with one hand tied around your balls

from what I understand, there's talk within the organization that Zimmer is not coming back next year (not kidding)

control the gaps, dee dee dee!!!!!!!!!!
geez it's hareder for a qb to beat you rushing the ball than throwing (ex. mike vick) that's just dumb flush him(whoever it is) out of the pocket and make him beat you with his legs and it just wont happen not with the type of pursuit there is in the nfl

ogt did i say anything that wasn't common knowledge already. no. history has proven that running qb's cant beat you by scrambling so make them scramble

I just copy and pasted what you said in the other thread. Sounds silly doesn't it?

Our defense, and I dont know where it is zimmer or Parcelss doing, but our Defense is a basic read Defense,, just watch Carpenter on most plays ( he is the easiest to see being on the outside). Very seldom does he attack the blocker,, neither do canty or spears,, why? because they are supposed to hold their ground, keep there blocker off the Lb,, and react to flow of the play. Its a run defense first.

I think some of you guys that are being critical of spears and canty should lighten up some, they are not Great right now, but they are being held back some too. Once a Defensive lineman plays gap control, and the offensive lineman can get set and get their hands out, its very hard to generate a pass rush. Its a bad scheme for applying pressure on running downs.

The orginal poster mentioned Fergie and how he does penetrate, well as NT that is his job, he is supposed to collopse the middle on every play,, he also has two LB right behind him to fill gaps on running plays. It is much easier for him to get a push because he is the only DL that is attacking not reading.

I played in this same Defense in Highschool.. which is pretty sad when you think about it.

well to be honest, I got the "understanding" tidbit from Hostile, who told me he got it from a "very reliable" source close to the team

obviously not a sure thing, but obviously not made up either

I'm pretty sure Zimmer is gone. I hope so. Just hope the next D-coordinator can get it right in Big D, because we do have the talent!

It's not just Zimmer! This is Parcells 3-4 defense. Do any of you honestly think Zimmer wanted to coach this defense. Do you think he had a choice. In 2003 we had a pretty good blitzing team in the 4-3.

in 2004 we regressed, which is exactly what Parcells wanted. Remember passing on Berry and all the other free agents that year. We brought in that hack Wiley. Parcells needed an excuse to change the defense.

Zimmer and Parcells don't know how to coach the modern 3-4. Parcells is stuck in the early 80s without Bellicheck. Yet Parcells doesn't want to share the power with any established, modern 3-4 coach. Parcells wants to be worshipped, and he wants all the glory. Well, it's backfiring on him.

Nothing will piss him off more than if he leaves, and we switch back to a 4-3 and are successful. That may be the only reason he tries to stick around. Zimmer will be his fall guy.

Hostile also told me that the source told him Zimmer has "never stopped stumping for the 4-3", that Parcells doesn't feel he's on the program and that there are 2 chances Zimmer comes back next year: "slim, and none"
