We can and have debated at length on what went wrong in 2010.
And of course who's at fault. Jerry, Wade, Garrett, luck, injuries.........

But I'm sure we can all agree on one thing.

And thats that this team didn't hit enough/work hard enough in practice.
OTA's, training camp and in season practices.

IMO The theory was to keep the stars healthy. We have the talent, if we can just keep that talent on the filed, we'll get it done.
And of course 2010 proved that we couldn't.

So lets assume Garrett is the cure for this since all evidence this past month points to that. We are going to hit and tackle as much or more than most other NFL teams.

As certain as I am that this needs to happen and will happen, I'm just as certain that we will have more injuries.

Through the OTAs, training camp and in season practices, we will lose more players to injury. Short term, long term and season ending. Count on it.

How do we best deal with that?

I'm suggesting we start by trading down multiple times in the 1st rd. Lets suppose we end up with the 9th pick. I think we should look to move that down to the end of RD ONE via 2 to 3, maybe 4 trades.

How many extra prime 2011 picks could we get dropping from 9 to say 30?

Do you like the idea?

What would you do with the picks?

Here's my best guess on what we'd have to work with, fill in the blanks.......

Just a tid bit the Cowboys are working out in shorts and shoulder pads today, because Garrett has said we have too many banged up players. I think the HC should use his own judgement of when he feels the guys need to be in full pads and when he needs to lighten up

lack of leadership from the coaches down to the players.

oh yeah, going cheap at safety was a terrible idea. i can't believe i'd ever miss ken hamlin but i do now.

Agreed. And I think Garrett will do well with this.

But I do think we'll work harder and sustain more injuries in 2011.

if we pick 9th I say we take the best player left at 9. You dont pick that high very often and this is a top heavy draft

Maybe Philly does not work in pads more than most teams and they are banged up all to hell and back it is more than just about practice.

Getting another star at 9 is VERY tempting.

I just think we have enough stars/impact players.

But we have a few too many sub par players and need more decent to good players. We need more depth. Especially along the OL and DL.

Question is, what is trading from 9 to 30 worth? Two 2nds, a 3rd and a 4th?
More? Less?

We could do a lot of damage with that many selections.

Oline - oline - oline -

let me say it again.

Oline - oline - oline -

Said it before and if need be, ill say it again. It all starts with the oline.

exactly unless you get an outrageous offer.....

I don't trust this team drafting with multiple picks. It failed when we passed up Stephen Jackson and it failed in the 2009 draft. Take the best player available. IF he's a bust so be it. But take the best player available at #9. Chances are that guy will be a linebacker, defensive end or a corner. A guy who can make a impact right now. You can't go wrong there.

I was waiting for this response. No looking to jump all over you but........
We have been one of the better drafting teams since Parcels arrival in 2003. Yet that simple fact is constantly missed here.
Even if we were only average, it still makes no sense to have that dictate strategy.

Surprised no one had any thoughts on the possible value of trading down that far or who we might go after with that many picks.

Hamlin doesn't even have a team. He's out of the league. Not saying Ball is the answer, obviously he is not, but Hamlin can't even get a job.

As much as I'd like to agree that practice might have been lame, it still doens't explain why they did well the season before with the same practice. That was the furthest they've been in a long while, with the same coach as this year. I think they got caught with their pants down, with all this SB expectation and it just spiraled. The camp was just part of it but there wasn't anything different from the past couple seasons. Another part was the other teams exposed what most fans knew. Play calling was obvious and the O-line was exposed along with the secondary. The D-line doesn't stand a chance, if they don't get a chance to break down the O-line.

Hoepfully all this will be changed next year.

We have great talent on offense, but mediocre talent on defense.

But we have most of our high draft picks on D.....crazy isn't it?

We got a crazy boatload of need. We need new blood on the right side of the OL. We need another pass rushing end. We need help at CB and S. And a reliable playmaking ILB.

That's a tall order for one off season...

The talent on this team highly exaggerated! The reality is we do have some high rated players in glamour positions, but for the most part where is the talent where football games are won and lost? We need these players in the trenches. offensive line and defensive line.

I could not agree more, it's our high profile talent that makes us lose sight of our needs at the lunchpail positions. I mean it's uncanny how much I agree. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

See how I made your post about me?
