Now that we've cooled down, how does everyone feel?

How does everybody feel?

Honestly, as frustrating and embarrassing as yesterday's loss was, it didn't really change the feelings I had prior to the game. I felt like we hadn't had an impressive win yet. We forced 6 turnovers against the Giants and still barely won. Not to mention, the Giants lost their first 6 games and beat possibly the two worst teams in the league the past two weeks. We beat an Eagles team that hasn't been able to score without Vick at QB. We also struggled to score against them. We beat a Commanders team that has looked awful, and we also had trouble scoring. We annihilated St. Louis, but we'll never know how good/bad they are now that Bradford is out for the season.

However, despite not having an impressive win in 8 games, we haven't had a loss that makes us look like we can't hang with any team in the league. Romo almost outscored the greatest offense of all time. We barely lost to the only undefeated team in the league. We had a lead, only to give it away, to a Chargers team that might sneak into the playoffs. And we had the game won against a Lions team that will probably make the playoffs, only to choke it away in embarrassing fashion.

This isn't really a positive post. We haven't really proved anything this season. We also haven't proved that we are a different team. We've been infamous the entire Romo era for being a team that plays to the level of its competition, has the talent to beat anyone, likes to shoot itself in the foot, and chokes away games in epic fashion. Nothing I've seen this season has dispelled that.

We wont even hit 8-8 this year, best I think we do is 7-9 and hopefully a new HC next year but again next years cap is a mess so that might not help anyway

That's how I feel, second verse same as the first.

Another emotional roller coaster of a season that ultimately ends in disappointment.

At this point, I don't even see them going 8-8.

And I couldn't care less if that was somehow good enough to win the NFC Least as it wouldn't matter once we would get clobbered by an actual playoff caliber team.

All of the talk, money spent, and hyperbole about this team, the sad fact is that they're still simply average, and irrelevant.

Groundhog day. Win one, lose one. Players see it, coaches see it, we see it. Cursed.

I haven't cooled down.

Don't let their incompetence bring you down, man. I used to be that way. I was NOT someone you wanted to be around after a loss.
But then it dawned on me... that's THEIR job, they get paid to be out there and play. If it doesn't bother them, it sure as heck shouldn't bother me.

I'm slowly getting there. And think I am there but then they suck me in like yesterday and then rip my heart out. But you sound what my uncle went through. He used to pretty much have to take off work the next day after losses he was that mad. He still gets upset but it goes away quickly.

But I need to get to the point that in pro sports, the fans actually care about winning more than them. They get paid either way and are friends with all these other players. Winning is secondary than their paycheck.

Football is entertainment. The players , at a young age get to earn more $$$ than many will earn in a lifetime.

We look to sport to relieve some of the uncertainty of todays world. When the thing we count on to do that delivers the same frustrations as real life it eats on us.

Such is the nature of investing too much emotion into something that doesn't pay our own individual bills at the end of the month , or solve the challenges of family, friends, ourselves...

P.S. been a fan since 1970 so have enjoyed the great teams, and the pretenders we have assembled. Still in the end know when to step back and realize it is just entertainment.....

The 4 games we have lost this year are nothing more than additional examples of how we stand at the door of "the next level," open it and then not walk through. Pile these 4 losses on top of other situations where we had the division in hand or win and you're in scenario and for whatever reason we don't step through that doorway.

Door opens...
"What's in there?"
"The next level, playoffs, Super Bowls"
"Sounds scary, do we have to go in?"

I haven't calmed down at all.

But yesterday's game made me realize something: as much as I love the team and love (most of) the players, I hate watching this offense.

I hate the constant mucking around at the line of scrimmage. I hate the overuse of the shotgun. I hate the lack of a running game. I hate the play-calling. I hate the plays. I hate the apparent lack of offensive philosophy, which seems to boil down to waiting for Romo to almost get killed, miraculously escape and then make a big play. I hate how slow the team gets to the line. I hate how slowly plays develop. I hate how WRs fail to get open. I hate how they STILL haven't learned how to run a screen pass.

I'm no coach. I have no insider knowledge. I don't do serious post-game analysis like some writers and bloggers and posters here. I just watch the game. And for a lot of years now and culminating this year, this offense is no fun to watch.

Oh. And the defense can REALLY stink it up too.

It's funny to me in some aspects. We finally force turnovers in this defense and the unit is still on pace to set franchise records for ineptness. Jerry really made a deal with the devil for those 3 Super Bowl wins.

I did not watch the game yet but from what I can tell, no pressure on the QB and no running attack lost this game. It seems to be the story every time Dallas loses a game they should win when they are ahead.

I read this morning that since 2010 we've lost 10 games by 3 points or less. Miami only has lost more by that same margin with 13. Talk about gut-wrenching. As fans, we must love this team.

The problem, is that's what Garrett does, he hangs on, he doesn't go for the decisive win. We also play down to the level of poor teams. So many of these games shouldn't be close. We are also statistical anomaly in terms of losing games where hurdle metrics are achieved (QBR, Turnover diff, etc.). So being close doesn't count for much if you can't close the deal IMO.

I'm going to vote for this as the POST OF THE DAY.

Very well said.
