You know how I KNOW some of us fans just cant be satisfied?
Case in point,....the strange case of Bill Nagy and Travis Frederick.
I remember a couple years back when we drafted Bill Nagy in the 7th round. A lot of fans were kind of excited about the pick. Me,...I was more in the "MEH" camp. Bill was what he was,....a solid BACKUP type who could play multiple positions in a pinch.
Some of you folks even made up sweet little lies to tell yourself about Nagy. One of them being that THE ONLY REASON Bill didnt start for the Badgers back then was because he got hurt in a moped accident. :laugh2: I tried to tell everyone back then that that was CLEARLY NOT THE CASE. I tried to tell everyone back then that the three interior Badger offensive lineman ahead of him were head and shoulders better than Nagy and THAT was the real reason he didnt start over them.
So,...what does ole Bill do? He goes out and earns a start at guard for us to open the season! As I said,...no knock on Bill, he is what he is, a solid backup,....but this shows just what kind of a SAD SITUATION our offensive line had become when a guy like that can start for us.
Truth of the matter is this......We started a guy on our professional football team who WASNT GOOD ENUFF to start on his own college team!
Think about that a second and let it settle in real good. Couldnt start for the Badgers but COULD start for the Cowboys. Pretty damning if your honest about it.
So now,....we finally go ahead and address a glaring need that has haunted this team for what seems like forever and some of you guys are crying about it? REALLY?? You mean you LIKE having to play with Bill Nagy types?
Lemme tell ya,....Nagy couldnt even carry Fredericks Jock strap . I mean,....its not even CLOSE.
So I ask you,.....remember all that excitement some of you had for Nagy back then? Maybe give a little up for a guy who has THREE TIMES the talent and skill that that guy ever did. We will be just fine.
