Yes, it took until week 15 of the NFL season, but tonight we saw first hand what a "Romo Friendly Offense" is all about. The main reason: we played a COMPLETE game for the first time I can remember. I think this is what Jerry envisioned the day he released Owens.

I LOVED seeing less shotgun and more Romo under center formations, just to keep the defense honest. I hope we do this on a week-to-week basis because this offense is hard to stop when we're clicking on all cylinders.

The running game was consistent, our WR's got very good separation and I think Ken Hamlin coming back is a bit underrated. I don't think it's a coincidence we didn't give up any huge plays tonight.

Negatives: Flozell is in major decline mode, and our kicker needs to get the "Folk" outta here because he could have easily cost us the biggest win this franchise has gotten in years. We need to be working out kickers first thing on Monday, I don't care if it's Jason Elam or Shaun Suisham; they can't be any worse than Folk at this point.

So proud of this team. I can't sleep and that's a good thing. Lets keep this train rolling fellas! :star:

And this was against a good defense, to boot. ... The supposed bugaboo of our offense success this year.

Well, I mean we went Shotgun on 25 out of 70 plays. That's pretty close to our season average. This shotgun-aversion thing is the most overblown aspect.

Nice post. Romo looked like he did in '06 and early '07. The turn around scramble and pass to Phillips was vintage Romo. The play action and roll out passes were a pleasure to watch. Tony at his best. ;)

I'm assuming the shotgun formations were mostly on 3rd. I can remember more under center formations on 1st and 2nd down. I hate when we get in the shotgun especially on 1st down.

Totally agreed. I just flew from Arizona to North Dakota for Christmas and didn't let anyone tell me how the game went. Got home at 1130 pm and started watching the game. What an awesome way to start a vacation! I can't sleep either because I'm still excited! :star: :star:

We seemed to have more plays where we had him on the move today. We also made good use of his ball fakes for the draws and play action passes. The balls were thrown to many different receivers as well.

The other thing I liked is Romo was taking advantage of running opportunities in some 3rd and short situations when it was there. He needs to do this more to take some of the steam out of the DTs who are always trying to close the pocket on him up the middle. He converted two thirds this way in important situations.

I do think the playcalling was the best it's been all year, and I believe most if not all of the Shotgun formations were on 2nd and long (like the Felix play where he ran a shotgun draw for 17 yards on 2nd and 19) or 3rd down.

Then again, they have been for most of the season. We rarely go shotgun on 1st and 10 unless we're in the hurry-up. The problem is that we get into 2nd and 3rd and long too often in some games, necessitating the use of the shotgun. Then people cry about shotgun use, when they got the causality all wrong. Shotgun is being used too much because we're constantly in need to using it, which is bad.

I agree no doubt. Like you said, I think Tony did an EXCEPTIONAL job with the play fakes tonight. There were a few times where he faked me out lol. He did seem to be on the move didn't he? Hopefully this isn't an aberration but Garrett is starting to really use plays that are conducive to Romo's strengths. Kosier, Gurode, Davis and Free had a very solid night. Yes, I'm leaving the other guy's name out. :D
