Rams in serious pursuit of T.O.

7/24/2010 3:34:29 PM

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports the St. Louis Rams are in serious pursuit of wide receiver Terrell Owens according to sources close to the player and team. Of course there are also rumors that the Bengals are also interested in Owens.

One source said the Rams have gotten very aggressive in their pursuit of Owens and it's possible that Owens will sign with the Rams or Bengals within the next 48 to 72 hours.

*******

I actually would applaud this move by the Rams. Yes, I am serious. I have been saying that they need WR help and TO is the best guy out there.

hey there is nothing better for a rookie qb and a young head coach than a little Terrell Owens.

And look on the bright side, his old buddy Bobby Carpenter will be there to storm the castle with him.

I can only imagine carpenters reaction to this..."I have to lose in St.Louis and put up with this clown.."

What the....

St Louis just drafted their franchise QB... and they decide to sick TO on him? Why? I wouldn't wish that on any rookie QB.

I think TO at this point in his career can actually help a rookie QB, to be honest.

You might be on to something there. TO can sort of be like training wheels for a young QB. Look at Romo.

He probably makes it a little easier for a younger QB to play because he knows he has TO as a sort of go to guy. A crutch of sorts. Once the QB has matured a little bit, you cut TO loose and let the QB do his thing.

And if the young QB struggles or throws it to another wr he has TO chirping him his ear constantly. I wouldn't want that if I were Bradford.

You're right. I wouldn't want that either, but agin it could be a learning tool. If you've dealt with TO, everything else is a piece of cake.

so, this is Owens' swan song?
I think last year should have been. He actually should have retired after Jerry let him go.

I say this is a good move by the Rams simply because they have no one.

I know T.O. follows his numbers and he is nearing 15,000 yards and 150 tds, so if he does sign, this year will be it. AJ Feely will be ok for them.

Oh and watch for Brandon Gibson. He might be up and coming WR for them.

I actually think this is a good move. The returning WRs for St. Louis are all young guys that really won't help out a QB that much. I gained respect for TO as a teammate in Dallas now some of the off the field things he said and did were kinda stupid but there's not very many people in Dallas that say he was a bad teammate. Same with Buffalo to. I don't know why he went there. They really don't have any offensive talent. But the Rams could use a big time WR while their younger guys figure out how to play the game. You think TOs experience wasn't invaluable to guys like Miles Austin on our team right now?

I think this is a terrible move.

TO will not make them compete.

Their roster is extremely young and they are going with a rookie QB.

What a progress stopping move it would be.

I thought TO wanted to sign with a team that had playoff asperations. Buffalo/St. Louis in back to back seasons to finish a career seems...............worthless for a HOFer.

I think TO fit in with us when we were young and not that good. He helped Romo progress into one of the best QBs in the league.

I know TO was supoposedly on good behavior last yr, but if I'm a young coach with a young #1 overall pick QB I just drafted, TO is about the last guy I want on my team.

I guess they don't want the offense to be "Bradford Friendly" :laugh1:
