I dunno if it was really disccussed of yet, but what do you think is going to be our option at NT come summer camp.

Maake Kemoeatu has been picked up. Sam Adams is out there, but he is in his 12th season. Then there is Grady Jackson who seems to have the girth to play NT in a 3-4 alignment.

The draft isn't leaving us much options since Gabe Watson is sort of an enigma.

This seems to be some what of a concern since we don't have much depth at the position.

I agree, this is a position of concern. To be honest I don't know what we'll do. Will we just give Pepper Johnson a shot if Ferguson gets hurt? Seems like a shaky solution.

Pepper will get a shot at the rotation, but I think we'll draft someone to help out, as well.

Pepper showed me something. He wasn't just a training camp wonder. He was collapsing the pocket when he was put into games in the regular season too. He was the only one on the entire team who even bothered to show up in the Washington game.

Hard to know what to expect from a guy you've never seen on tape before.

Now that teams kinda know who he is he'll have an adjustment to make.

I take a NT first day.

Yup, i agree. We must draft one. There seems to be question marks on all the guys except HALOTI NGATA. But hey, Parcells drafted fergie in the sixth i believe.

I looked at this ad naseum in terms of draft prospects for NT help and though there are not tons of NT prospects there is some talent to be had and more than just nagata and gabe. The question on almost every NT relative to their size and weight is motor and consistency.

The larger frame players often struggle with weight, injuries and laziness as consquence of size. However, some are more disciplined and talented than others and Ireland and crew must sift through the options to find us a good fit. The other question is character and some have been in trouble for various infractions.

Mako Kamu was stud NT in FA. Big Ted Washington to Cleveland means Ngata may drop.

Ngata/Watson are the two stud NT's in draft. We are real interested in Watson and he's a special player in our 3-4. Parcells will sandwich Canty, Spears around one of them just fine.....

Sam Adams is out of shape and old, I'm no fan of his. He's a Miki guy so I'll defer to his glowing write up. Grady Jackson wants Brinx $$$$ but he's no Fosier.

DT/NT depth is a very valid concern with Glovers cut.

I think we'll go with the two guys we have...you don't need 3 NT's like last year...it was a unique situation, imo.

My only question with Pepper? Is he BIG enough for every down player at that position?

Gabe Watson is a lazy slob. The guy was BENCHED during his senior season. As a Hawkeye fan, I watched some of that this last year. Haven't we had enough unmotivated types here in the past?

Uhm, is Watson an enigma or is he special? Personally, I think he's a lazy underachiever and I don't want him on the first day. If Bunkley's there at #18 I bet Parcells thinks long and hard. The guy is 6-2, 309 ond strong as an ox. Can he play NT?

We'll resign Willie Blade baby ! He must be around 400 lbs by now.

Or we could do one of the things I've agreed with Nors on. Move Larry Allen to NT.

Mark Tui moved from DT to OT, why not the other way around.

Pat Williams may be a good fit here if we're going to the rotation thing. While he's probably not more than a 1 or 2 year solution, I think he would probably be a nice fit with Ferguson, and Johnson. Apparently Johnson impressed Parcells last season...we'll see what he has this year I guess. Draft will probably provide the depth we need though.

Dale, you are around the ranch, right?

Just curious, because I would not want to rely on him, but what is the status of Willie Blade?

Is he even being considered as possibly making a comeback?

He was released last week.
