NYC Skyscraper may collapse

I used to walk byt this building all the time when I was working in the city. That was years ago. I had no idea Pfizer vacated the building and it was being converted.

Anyone, the video seems to show aluminum wall beams not support beams although something above the wall beams must have caved in a little for those wall beams to bend like that.

We don't often think about it but building a high rise building takes a lot of smart thinking or you will get collapsed. The stresses these building have to endure constantly is a lot more than what people think.

you see how much those beams have buckled and that is not a small amount

There are two main support beams that were shown as crumpled, look like heavy duty steel to me. plenty of aluminum was shown as crumpled as well but those are not structural. Fire dept spokesman has already said that that there will be plenty of engineers studying how much new metal will need to be added.

They were converting it to living spaces, right? So even if they removed the collapsing part and rebuilt, who in their right mind would trust it enough to live in it now? That building is toast either way.

There was a big condo that was leaning badly in San Francisco. This made me think of that one. It looks like they were able to save it.
