Installed it on the other PC and had some "waiting on root device" issues. Turns out that in order to get AHCI properly functioning I had to add some information in to AppleAHCIPort.kext so it would properly identify it (G33 Chipset). Few year old Dell 518, but after I did that, it worked.

I wound up having to copy an edited one onto a USB stick, booting the OSX installer and mv the kext in to /System/Library/Extensions, chown -R 0:0 /Extensions and then chmod them to 755 and done.

All working now!

So yeah, not always just click click click. :laugh2:

So I tried to turn the step-son's Dell Inspiron N5040 in to a Hackintosh and got everything working other than native resolution, the trackpad and accelerated graphics (QE).

Intel GMA 5700 isn't supported
