NYDN: Top Ten Overrated Players

Interesting. In the midst of a four game losing streak, not one New York Giant made the list.

If one is going to label Shawn Merriman overrated, shouldn't Osi Umenyiora be labeled the same? His numbers are actually worse than Merriman's.

Don't you have to be highly rated to be overrated? When was the last time that Roy Williams was rated highly? After he was drafted? After a year or two in the league? I'm talking about ratings by people not named Jones.

Julius Peppers has 7 sacks in 8 games playing for a team that turns the ball over with regularity and doesn't often force teams to play from behind in bad field position. That's more sacks than Osi Umenyiora (who has played 9 games) and Justin Tuck.

Off the top of my head the most overrated QB in the league right now is probably Eli. Good QB that most seem to already be thinking about Canton for. As far as others on that list, I don't think anyone considers Shockey anything special any more.

There should probably be at least one Giant on there, either Eli or Jacobs.

The most recent issue of Sporting News does a number of different player rankings including most overrated. I think TO won with maybe Merriman 2nd. Romo made their list as well which is supposedly a compilation of votes from 99 different players.

Ware got some respect (made their defensive MVP top 10), Austin was in the Top 10 most surprising, but generally speaking not much respect for the Cowboys.

It honestly doesn't bother me. We'll force our way onto some lists eventually if we keep winning.

But regardless I am pretty intrigued watching the consistent disrespect heaped on this team.

Cowboy hating has spread far and wide. They had fun with it through 5 games. Getting a bit dicier for them now though. :laugh2:

This list is a joke and not even for the cowboys players LoL. I don't see how you can say brian urlacher is overrated then see that defense without him. Romo isn't over rated either. RW is vastly overrated we also over extended for a sub par WR.

Not even sure you can the Daily News a newspaper really...Plus, of course, it's NY sooo...whatever

But, while I'm not on the Romo bandwagon yet he certainly doesn't deserve to be in that top 10...Also, while Roy doesn't deserve to be #1, I think a solid argument can be made for him to be in a top 10 perhaps...The knocks on him, they appear legit, for the time being.

Its funny how much the ny papers and fans love to talk about romo. That ralph vacchiano is a tool. His stuff is usually pretty funny to read.

As for the article, I love it. Sounds like another opportunity for Wade to get his copier fired up and his tape gun loaded. I hope the national media keeps it up too.
