I think you may have to spend a 4th on the guy and I would not be at all surprised if a 3-4 team took him in the 3rd. True NT, at least size wise are hard to come by these days.

Ok. Now I'm depressed.

But do you really think NFL scouts don't already know more about Walter Thomas than The NY Times?

A 4th if possible on talent alone, but I wouldn't be surprised for a team to get antsy and take him first day.

Sure, they do. But putting it in the NYT changes his perceived value -- now everybody knows that everybody knows AND everybody knows that he's on everybody else's mind, more or less. Pre NYT article, you might peg him as worth a flyer at 6 -- if you're too late, you're too late. Now you know 6 ain't gonna do it.

Since everybody knows that it only takes one team in the 5th to take him away, then anyone truly serious would consider the grabbing him in the 4th and from there it only takes one team in the lower half of the order to decide to cement the deal in the 3rd.

This guy is flying up the board with a bullet.

yeah, he will need work. If a team drafts this guy he will need a year to get in shape and learn the NFL. It sounds like he needs to be mentored so he can mature as a person. Leave him on the bench that first season so he can learn and earn his way onto the field.

Big Walt, as he is known, is a 6-foot-5 defensive tackle who wears a size XXXXXXL jersey. He bench presses 475 pounds and squats 800 pounds. Weight lifters at the Galveston Health and Racquet Club stop their workouts to watch him.
I don't think the average fan can understand the madness behind that kind of weight.

Interesting guy.

If he couldn't keep himself together enough to play more than two games at Northwest Mississippi Community College (after flunking out of Oklahoma State), seems unlikely that he'll be able to handle success in the NFL.

I agree. What happens when he starts earning atleast $100,000 a year. Definately a 7th RD pick or undrafted rookie free agent, with all kinds of weight clauses factor in because like big Ol Gilbert Brown, when the motivation and weight go south they're pretty much gone forever.

Unfortunately, that's probably true. He seems to be spending money he hasn't even earned yet, which isn't a good sign.
