Realistically speaking, what will the cowboys do to address the offensive line this off-season? Not what you WANT them to do, but what will they do?

I say they cut Doug Free, and draft an interior lineman, a tackle, and sign a veteran interior lineman. Making line next year:

LT: Smith
LG: Livings
C: Costa or Bernadeau
RG: High draft pick
RT: Parnell

I think you're close, but I don't think a rookie is going to be pencilled into starting on the OL.

I would would look for a FA guard to be brought in as the starter.

I would then look at the highest offensive lineman drafted being an OT... Somewhere between rounds 2 and 4.

LT: Smith
LG: Livings
C: Draft or FA........Costa, Berny, Cook or Kowalski just don't excite me.
RG: Draft or FA
RT: Parnell

Craig

Why is everyone so set with Parnell at RT? I'd be more comfortable with Costa at C and Bernadaeu at RG than Parnell at RT.

Yeah I've been supporting the FA guard addition for a while, should be interesting to see if it happens. Parnell and other needs have changed my view of the need at RT, wanted it earlier in the draft but now I don't figure it will be drafted as high and we are talking about RT, not LT, plus Parnell could be alot better next year cause he has alot of upside.

Alot of people would hate that happening, but it seems alot more likely than other more aggressive plans out here.

We have so many needs now that my dream of fixing this team in one offseason is starting to fade.

I just don't see how this team is going to be able to sign an upgrade in free agency to what we have now on the offensive line. In addition, to franchising or resigning Spencer.

Regardless of what we think, Jones & co. are not giving up on Livings and Bernadeau. The one near certainty is Free being cut.

The spots where we potentially will see change are at OC, RG and RT. Depending on what is available, i believe they will add an OG or OC either in FA or relatively early in the draft(2nd-3rd). Depending on who they are able acquire will determine where they play Bernadeau - either at OC or RG. Also i believe their intention is to start Parnell at RT but will acquire competition for him either in FA or in the draft.

So there may be some shuffling but only one new addition to the starting lineup at OC or OG. Well, two if you include Parnell.

Its not that we are COMFORTABLE. It what we THINK will happen. Parnell has been Jerry's pet cat for a couple of years now. Remember when he was drooling over Parnell with John Madden during the preseason. I think its pretty much a guarantee Parnell will get a chance to be the starter next year

I do not believe the Cowboys will change anything on the o-line other than to add a guard/center and tackle through the draft. I would not even be surprised to see Free stick around either.

Hope we go after Andy levitre in hard FA.

They won't be able to because the Bills will be resigning Levitre.

Count on it.

Why lump Livings in with Bernadeau?

Livings was the best player on the offensive line this season-- by far.

He was the 16th ranked guard in the NFL per PFF.

He was pretty consistent game in/game out.

He doesn't have Tyron Smith's upside nor his athletic ability but the fact is he outplayed Smith and everyone else on the offensive line this season.

I included him only because I often see him described here by fans as a disappointment.

I understand.

And those fans would be wrong.
