O-Line Splits

Guys, I was wondering something after being at the game. I noticed on that our line man have really wide splits when they lineup. I mean I understand that is the defense is using the o-lineman to line up you spread them out but if the defense is playing a gap assignment wider splits between OL makes it easier for line man to get off blocks and make penetration into the backfield. When I played in HS our splits were normally 12 inches when I was the game I noticed the split between guard and center to be almost 2 feet. Just an observation I made.

i hope so how did our offensive line suck this fast....we alway use to be able to run now look....even the raiders can run the ball

But who is it? Has anyone taken the time to watch the film and determine which player is getting beat so bad that Jones cannot even get out of the backfield. It cannot be everyone. There has to be one or two lineman that are constantly getting owned. Who is it? Gurode?

wait til next week when clay mathews, big bj raji and company trout out on the field and their aggressive d-coordinator send all types of blitz, cb-safty-linebackers, especially watch charles woodson play aggressive. The way that defense line up pre-snap and move around is going to make us wet ourselfs---no homo---if only we had some type of disguised blitzes that work im tired of calling out the keith brookings blitz, or the over used D-ware blitz from mostly the same spot almost every play. Our D is just predictable. Its like we start out blitzing and disguising coverage then wade goes back to quarters d or cover 3 bull.

or a dumb send the house blitz while having the corners play 10 yards off the recievers in the redzone.

I know Mike Leach believed in using outrageously wide splits because it spreads the outside pass rushers out wide and gives them a bad angle to the QB, and also gives his QB's natural throwing lanes..
