the Hotel improved and by the end of the season was probably top 10 caliber. He will always have trouble with speed rushers, but can do a good job even on them (Freeny was stimied). Still just at 30 so has several years left at top level performance.

Kosier was very mobile and got out and blocked at the second level quite well. Had trouble occasionaly with big nasty DTs bull rushing him- but not often. First year that he was kept at one position for a whole season.
Should improve next year.

Guorde was VERY solid though seemed to tail off at the end of the season- but then so did a LOT of players so its not really fair to single him out. Just made the Pro Bowl roster so his price just went up but we need to keep him.

Rivera- like the guy and his attitude and his ability to coach other players and help them out but stick a fork in him as a player. Bring him back as a coach- but no more playing.

Columbo- one must remember that he got more playing time this year then in the rest of his years in the NFL combined. Still learning and probably could still use some more conditioning. Should improve next year.

If we can get a good Guard in FA (Steinbach, Dielman, maybe one of the COlts guards) this line should be quite good next year.

agree, but i think you give flozell a little to much credit. definitely think we should get one of those FA guards this off season

I agree with this. Maybe even better then top 10 (in the NFC). He had a rough start, but was invisible (that's a good thing) for most of the season after that rough start.

But as linemen go, people only pay attention to the bad cuz the good is when they don't get noticed.

I'm more interested in guys like McQ and Proctor. Can these guys play in this league or not?

this team will have a good line when guys like Kosier are on the bench and guys like Rivera are home and not starting...

Columbo is a free agent and may ask too much for a 1 year wonder... Gurode as well!!!

I'm not sold on Flozell. Thank goodness Romo could scramble, or else we would have 10 to 15 more sacks given up this year. Flozell is not that great, I wish we could up grade that position and Kosier/Rivera as well.

Let's not forget how sorry our offensive line played, please people, let's not forget.

I agree, I think we're giving the OL more credit than it's due. Rewind to the first few games with Drew Bledsoe under Center. How good was the OL???

Romo's mobility saved the team at least a dozen sacks.

I know we can't overhaul the OL over night, but man, we've been working on it for 10 years already.

The Hotel got better as the season went along- some of the other guys got worse. BUT as I MENTIONED- the whole team seemed to TANK late. So how can you really get down on guys for what they did late.
And we have to be REALISTIC. We can replace ONE player on the line and continuity will be OK- not great, but OK. replace MORE then one player and continuity is in the crapper.

Great O lines like we had in the 90s do not come along very often. Keep harping back to that time and you will NEVER be happy with anything the Boys do from now one. We have to be realistic.

I think we can replace Rivera immediately, and we can bring in guys to compete with Kosier and Flozell. If "Flow" and "KO" beats them out, then so be it, but you atleast have to try.

Although I do agree Flo got better as the year went on, I'm still eager to find his replacement. I just don't think he's all that spectacular any more and it's a position that requires a superstar.

Flo may have a couple of years left, but that's exactly why we should take a linemen high in the draft so that whoever we get can transition smoothly into the role when Flo either retires or signs w/ someone else.

Gurode needs to prove that he can play for one more year before I jump on his bandwagon. And if his biggest problem in the past was discipline, there's very good reason that he'll revert to his bad habits now that BP is gone.

Colombo needs to show me he can play for one more year too.

Rivera's an experiment tthat didn't work out. Time to move on.

I'm ok w/ Kosier.

McQ and Proctor hasn't proven a thing. I'll continue being cautiously optimistic w/ them.

I hate being a "glass half emty" guy, but there are far toomany "ifs" for me to feel comfortable w/ our current OL situation.

By no means do I want to get rid of Kosier, I like him alot. If you can't find anything better then he continues to start. If you can, then he can back up nearly every position on the line.

The biggest problem we have are Columbo and Gurode hitting FA.

Have to remember there's a lot of money out thier this year. The numbers could quickly get out of hand on these guys.

I like the potential of Columbo. Considering his somewhat unique circumstance, it's hard to judge his real value.

Gurode's a different issue. Is he a contract year player? Sure fits the profile.
Fourth year guy who finally put it all together to win a starting spot.
Hate getting burnt by these guys.

Both these guys have a "pedigree". Former 1st and 2nd round picks. That will give them some credibility in the FA market. Oh boy, I can just here thier agents now!

I'm affraid of FA as it relates to these guys. It's one thing to get into a bidding war with 2 or 3 of the dumber teams in the league over a star player.
That can still be worth it. It's ok to over pay a real blue chip, multiple probowl guy 10-20%. If it's a guy who really makes a difference.

However, getting sucked in to giving Gurode a 6 yr-30 mil-8 mil SB type deal is a whole different thing.
Don't laugh, he hits FA, you watch it happen.

i dont think flo should be playing for 9mil +. but if he's there i dont think anybody will cry. dallas needs atleast 1 guard. maybe 2

hopes for 07

LT: flo (or a FA black, wayne gandy)
LG: deilman or steinbach. i think norv will sign a high priced OL. atleast 1
C: gurode guy got his due probowl. he's solid. with some better and bigger guards next to him watch out in 07
RG: Kosier
RT: colombo

need a backup atleast 1 vet
WAYNE GANDY guy can play 4 posistions on the line. all except center. and has played tackle and guard for the bills.

We have to resign Gurode and Colombo, that's the problem, with Riveria basically done, we only have 2 starters returning from our weakest area.

If anything just to add some depth. I'm for replacing Rivera and I'd like to see a solid rookie come in to eventually replace our beloved hotel. I think the rest of the line is fair and will continue to improve...
