I am very interested to see this guy at the combine. This guy is a freak. A Uconn product I would imagine the staff has vetted him with the Jones connection.

6'3 220 lbs

Made some nice open field plays on Smoke Mizzell a very tough tackle to make in the open field.

"UConn safety Obi Melifonwu
"The UConn safety is really intriguing. He's freaky athletic and he's going to put up big-time testing numbers. He'll run low 4.4s (in the 40-yard dash) and jump over 40 inches. He can play in the slot as well. Huge upside."

I like his potential, but I feel like there will be better options.

Yeah he actually looked really good in the Senior Bowl practices.

Toughen him up a little bit and he'd be a good pickup. The Senior Bowl and the Combine will probably lead to him being picked up in the 2nd/top 3rd. I don't see him falling to our pick in the 3rd.

Just depends who's there. It'd be funny if we did grab him. Both starting safeties from UConn. Who'da thunk

And what's up with their athletic freaks at Conn?

Seems like he's getting dragged on every one of his tackles. Plays tall. His speed looks of the WR Roy Williams variety -- long strider and straight line. Change of direction tests will be interesting.

I don't hate him but I don't think highly enough of him or his position to spend a RD2 pick.

Looks to be a little too straight linish for my tastes.

We need a ss bad. I think church leaves and I fear they will overpay wilcox. Rather start heath over wilcox.

At safety you need intelligence, tackling and ball skills

I think this is our 1st round pick. Just think this is the guy we have targeted.
I agree he will only be available with our first pick, BPA is debatable, he would however make this defense better.

Sirius NFL radio says that he is likely to go in the first round and that his height is 6'4. Projects to safety but could beef up and play linebacker or outside rusher. Versatile athlete. Hybrid player that could be a weapon. Seahawks type of player.

Most overrated guy in the draft and that's saying something with Peppers in the draft

UCONN has had an interesting ability to find very athletic safeties. Between Byron Jones and Melifonwu, they had two decathletes.
