Let me just say the entire experience of seeing my first cowboy game in texas stadium was amazing. I strongly encourage it.

Here is what I saw on the field:

The good:

* The dallas crowd. For the better part of 20 + years, I have heard about how the texas crowd was quiet, how they would leave by halftime..yada..yada. Well maybe it was my section...but the crowd was amazing. They were as loud as any Philadelphia Eagle game I have been too.

* Hamlin is a leader. He was often trying to fire up the defense players.

* Colombo is massive. Had a very intimidating look on his face during pre-game. Whatever he lacks in athletisim he makes up for in toughness and is very competitive.

* Romo loves the game. During pre-game, he is out there talking with everyone and throwing passes. He looks like a kid in a candy shop on the field. You just get a sense he loves what he does. I really hope he becomes successful as the QB because his energy is obvious.

* Witten is all business. Comes out in pregame with very serious looks and just goes about getting himself ready for the game. I just knew he was going to have a big game because he looked totally focused.

* Barber is just a beast. He is chisled and is the complete opposite of J. Jones. His build looks more like a running back and he runs with extreme determination.

The bad:

* I now know why J. Jones gets knocked off the ball so easily - he is all upper-body. Has very small calves and ankles for RB but is jack-up in upper-body. It makes him top heavy which doesn't allow him to maintain balance after a hit up high.

* Roy Williams is often out on his own taking his helmet off (wiping his face). Has a very casual approach. Even though we hear reports of him losing weight...he still looks "roomy" in his hips and legs. Burress was huge...so I can understand why Roy was in coverage alot in this game to help Reeves.

* Shockey and Burress have to be the biggest a-holes in football. Burress often wouldn't even be in the offensive huddle instead trying to stare down someone on dallas defense (couldn't tell if it was hamlin or reeves). Shockey just was himself...totally annoying. The crowd gave it to him good as he left the field.

Great observation Wood! You hit the nail on the head concerning the problem JJ has of not being able to break tackles or maintain his balance running in the hole.

I've always thought JJ looked top heavy and didn't have enough lead in his britches. I was noticing Frank Gore and LT and they are built the opposite of JJ even though their heights and weights are similar. They are larger in their lower body with narrower shoulders, but JJ is more arms and shoulders.

The classic example of the best body type for that size RB is of course, Emmitt, who had huge thighs and a big bubble butt that gave him great balance.

Glad you liked it, the first time at the stadium is always great. You should see kenyon coleman in person, he was the most impressive to me, he belongs in the wwf...

as far as the crowd goes that is impossible, according to everyone in virginia and maryland we suck, we are female body parts and we dont know anything about football like those big timers in VA & MD.

I love Barber and it is pretty obvious JJ's time in Dallas is getting short, but I would love to get a stud as a #1 back and have Barber be the backup. I'm sure that is probably like the impossible dream though.

Wood, what section were you in? From what I've seen so far, sections 1 and 36 are the loudest. 16 & 17 start a lot of chants. Between the 40s on each lower level side you'll get a sprinkling of fans who've paid big bucks for their yearly trip to Texas Stadium. They let it all hang out during the game and sometimes get others involved. 136 can be loud at times too.

I've always thought that about Julius, too -- it's one reason I hated to see him go train in Arizona away from the team. Guarantee you he wasn't squatting and cleaning as much as benching and curling out there. Squats are no fun and they don't make you look good in a t-shirt.

wood.......i agree with your observations
glad you had a great time....ya'll come back now you hear.
section 34 aint too shabby in the noise department

that area near the end zone is okay. 1,36,35,34 create some of the better noise in the stadium. I wish I could clone those people 80,000 times. :D

Good point. He looks like a guy more concerned about how he looks in the mirror than functional football strength. Also, he's acted like a loner since Tuna left town. From the stories, it sounds like Wade has worked to try and develop a relationship with him.

But JJ in a Cowboy uniform will just be a memory after this season. Here's hoping for McFadden. I can't even imagine this offense with the speed of McFadden added to it. If that happened I don't know if we could afford to keep MB3 because a lot of teams will line up to give him their starting job and pay him a lot of $$.

This is so true. Even when I was a 180 pd receiver playing in a semi-pro league, I remember it taking like 5 guys to bring me down after catching a quick hitch and juking like 4 guys out - I've always had massive legs, I was just born with them, and consequently, it's always been hard for tacklers to bring me down.

JJ is not built strong where he needs it. Emmitt always broke tackles and stayed on his feet, and that will ultimately make you great or not so great (whether you can break a tackle or not)

Thanks for the post. Sounds like you had a great time.

I love hearing odservations from people who were actually in the stands during the games. They see what we can't see at home.

The bad:

* The heat and humidity! hehe. seemed after every TD, it got hotter and more humid

It was my 2nd game...

If you ever saw Emmitt Smith back in his mid 90s playing days, you would know why he could power through those big defensive linemen. His thighs were huge. I mean each thigh was as thick as my chest in those days.

I really doubt that that is whats wrong with JJ. If so the trainers and coaches on the Boys would have said something to someone.

Not if Cleveland keeps it up.
